Nearly surrounded by Chesapeake Bay and its inlets, this park offers campsites, hiking trails, flat water canoeing and kayaking along miles of isolated shoreline and marshland.
Janes Island State Park was a great place to go on a camping trip during April. My family and I stayed for two nights. Pros: -The bathrooms were clean and kept clean consistently which impressed us a lot. The shower was heated and there was ample space and hooks to place your belongings when showering. -There was a LOT of bathrooms for such a small park. Very cool ???????? -Camp hosts were super friendly! We’d see them walking around saying good morning to everyone and having a chit chat. They weren’t too imposing either which is great. -Camp store has so many options and super cheap compared to other state parks I’ve been to. Their souvenirs are so cute. -Campsite close to the water so very easy to go fishing. Cabins are also other options. -Dog friendly. Lots of waste stations for dogs so the park was mostly clean from dog waste. (please pick up after your pets!!) -You will feel safe. Park rangers do rounds very often to check on the park and it was reassuring. Cons: -Nothing major I can think of! It was a great experience and we’re definitely going to return. Next time we will go when kayaks are available to be rented because the park has water trails available and the area where swimming is allowed is only accessible by boat.

The perfect marina for boating, sailing and fishing on the Chesapeake Bay and the Tangier and Pocomoke Sounds. Home to charter boats, headboats, bait & tackle, and new stainless steel fish-cleaning stations. This 515 slip marina offers access to many of Somerset County's finest attractions and is located in historic Crisfield, Maryland.
Somers Cove Marina is a perfect spot to stop for an overnighter or for a few days stay when travelling by boat on the Chesapeake Bay. New floating docks make for easy egress, with ever-ready dock hands to assist your arrival. Full service fuel dock is just a line's throw from the docks. In the off season the Marina runs a small cafe on the park-like grounds to ensure there is always an eatery close at hand. The main street of Crisfield is just a block away, with its own collection of shops and restaurants. A General Dollar store is just 3 blocks away and there are marina bikes available to ride to and fro if that seems easier. A small gift shop is in the marina for sundries if you do not want to walk to the General store. In season there is a pleasant size pool for marina guests next to the office. Each corner of the marina also has complete shower and bathroom facilities, each kept in excellent condition. A great place to visit with a family or solo.

If you happen to be in this sort of struggling town at the end of the road, by all means visit this compact but very informative museum. A very comprehensive presentation of the relevant history and importance of the seafood industry, plus an exhibit on legendary decoy carvers. The books on sale also focused on Maryland some of which we've never seen before. Pay what you wish in the donation box.

Chart a course back in time to the island of Tangier aboard a 90' luxury vessel. Service offered to the island daily from May 15th to October 15th.
We made plans to take the ferry over to the island to tour and have lunch. The trip over was beautiful and there was loudspeaker providing information about what we were seeing. Lunch was at Fishermans Corner and the crab imperial tangier island style was excellent. We took a tour of the island by golf cart with one of the residents who gave us a tour along with my wealth of information about the history and what it's like to live on this very small island!

An island in the Chesapeake where residents live much as their ancestors did hundreds of years ago.
Finally something to do after 5pm. Jack and Pickles just opened after many years of nothing for visitors after dark. Smith Island doesn’t sell any adult beverages do bring your own and go see Elly and Terry. Worth admission to hang out with your favorite BYOB for sunset.
