Unspoilt and secluded, Stokesay is a magnificent late-Victorian mansion set within extensive grounds in rolling South Shropshire countryside. Taking off from a field a short distance from the house, views of the famous lawns, lake and ornate fountain beckon as you soar skywards.

The Shropshire Hills is a nationally important landscape. The hills, rolling farmland, woods and river valleys of this varied and special landscape are rich in geology and wildlife and ingrained with heritage. Off the beaten track and tranquil, this is a living, working place, loved by locals and visitors alike for its quality of environment, for walking and outdoor activities and for relaxation and inspiration.
We stayed in Shifnal, and visited Shrewsbury, Ironbridge and Ludlow. Everyone we spoke to, from parking attendants, bar staff, and cafe workers were so friendly and helpful. They were so proud of where they lived and wanted to share the very best with us. Such lovely people, such beautiful countryside. A really great break away.

You cannot imagine how much there is to look at in here. We easily lost ourselves and before we knew it 90 minutes had passed. You can tell the curators have put a lifetime of effort into collecting these items. Well worth a visit and a wander round! We were dubious thinking it can’t be very big, but it’s over 4 floors. If you like to reminisce then you will love this!

Visited as a family of 4. Good free parking facilities. The centre has some great displays and the short film is very interesting. The shop and cafeteria are well stocked with lots of choices and The staff were very helpful and friendly. The walk around the riverside meadows was nice with lots of lovely wild flowers blooming. Great day out for all ages.
