Historic Swedish community with museums, restaurants and gift shops. Settled in the mid 1800’s, this Utopia on the prairie was documented by primitive artist Olof Krans. His paintings are worth checking out at the Bishop Hill Museum. The big beautiful park in the center of town has a playground and bandstand. Check the days and hours before your visit, especially in the winter, to make sure museums are open. Don’t miss the classy Colony Store and goodies from the Bakery. There are B&B’s and even a Tavern in town!
