It is the deepest canyon in Europe, and second deepest in the world after the Grand Canyon of Colorado, USA. 78km long, and up to 1.300m deep, this "tear of Europe", as it is also called, is a great natural and tourist attraction not only in the area, but in the entire country.
Last year I had a rest in Montenegro. I had heard before a lot of good reviews about Montenegro rafting and I decided to buy a ticket. The price was 60 euros per person. The road took four hours to the one side and down the river took three hours. On the way there a driver did several stoppings and it allowed to see many lakes, rivers and mountains. In a gathering spot I had breakfast before rafting and lunch after. The rafting was amazing, the views were a miracle and emotions were crazy. During that trip we had two pit stops and ten times river waves covered us. If you have a vacation in Montenegro, you certainly need to take this tour. I give 9 out of 10, because the price is high.

Tara Bridge is a great built structure over Tara River. The bridge itself is very interesting and the view from the bridge over Tara Canyon is wonderful. Here it is a must to try zip line or rafting, since from my experience with the zip line is a great choice to be above Tara.

Only 3km away from the centre of Zabljak, Malo (Small) and Veliko (Big) Lakes merge into Crno (Black) Lake. This lake is specific for its dark blue shade of water, which often seems black, and the effect is created by the Lake's depth and the dense Durmitor pine forest surrounding it.
Summer season, the best for geting to know one of the most beautiful places in montenegro and europe. You can enjoy the nature while you do kayak or trecking or only rest watching the mountains.

Rafting and camping in the heart of the Durmitor National Park in the Tara Canyon under the big bridge. Rafting is most exciting and attractive in this part of Europe. The whole place is under UNESCO protection. Camping on the river Tara will do it again live up to its unspoiled nature and born again.

The Centre houses the natural history collection of the National Park, a shop selling souvenirs, handicraft items, as well as a room for the screening of films with a capacity of 30 visitors. It is located in the main building of the National Park, and it is a place where you can receive all information related to the tourist offer of the area.
This is a stunning work of mother nature!!High plain dotted with mountain huts and grazing cattle, surounded by impressive mountains, the most remarkable being Durmitor massif. For those on tight shedule or who don't want to hike, there are lovely scenic roads to drive on, with lots of marked view points with benches to sit on and admire the nature. For more active ones, there are lots of hiking trails, with various levels of difficulty. I have done hike around Medjed Peak, hike to Prutas and Skrcka lakes, and a hike to Crvena greda. All the trails were perfectly marked, making it almost impossible to get lost. First two trails were covered mostly by 4G mobile network, the last one mostly by 2G/3G.

A team that stands behind the idea of building a zipline across the canyon of the Tara river, consists of experienced members of The Mountain Rescue Service, experts for the Durmitor mountain and primarily of extreme sports lovers. Design, construction and installation of the system was performed by construction experts and those who have years of experience in working with the cable cars and ski lifts.

Situated at an altitude of 1.411m, Vrazje (Devil’s) Lake looks almost unreal, especially in spring and summer. Vast green fields surround the Lake, which has a distinct dark blue water colour, which especially comes to the fore when watched from higher ground.

The altitude of the Zminje lake is 1.520m, and its greatest depth is 7,7m. It is surrounded by a dense forest of spruce and other conifers, and is located at the spring of Mlinski (Mill) Creek!
