This wetland nature reserve has something to offer everyone and will appeal to families, walkers, birdwatchers and photographers alike. With 8 hides and 3 large lagoons the reserve plays host to a variety of species such as Tufted duck, Common tern, Green sandpiper, Cetti's warbler, Kingfisher, Water vole, Fox, and most recently Black-Necked Grebe. A great place for children and families with spotter trails, and regular events, but also very popular with birders and people after a relaxing walk or some peace and quiet. The friendly visitor centre offers two classrooms, a bird feeding station, hot and cold drinks and refreshments, and toilet facilities, plus free parking for RSPB members. Opening times are every day from 9 am to 5 pm (or dusk if earlier). Please note that the reserve is closed on Christmas and Boxing Day.
As members of the RSPB we were keen to visit. Plenty of parking - free. Peaceful walks - easy walks. Spotted kingfisher as well as range of usual waterside birds. Lovely place to get away from it all for the afternoon. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

Closed October to April, summer opening only due to hibernating bats. Reopens first Saturday in April.
I highly recommend you visit this very historic grotto. It was built in the mid-eighteenth century at the then Amwell Manor which belonged to the Scott family. It is the largest shell grotto in the UK. Now in Scotts Road, houses we're built on the former Manor grounds in the 1960's. The grotto is a Grade 1 listed building and was refurbished in 1991 and opened by Lord Montague. It is now held by a Trust. Well worth a visit, check opening times on it's website. Enjoy.

Situated in the grounds of Ware Priory, the Lido has both a 30m main pool and a smaller teaching pool. There is a smaller toddler play area, refurbished in 2018 and a room that is available to hire for private events. There are family changing rooms, and male and female changing rooms with hot showers, and also, new for last year, a set of poolside showers. The lido is serviced in peak sessions by a kiosk serving food, drinks and ice creams. Fully qualified RLSS Pool Lifeguards and a First Aider are on duty at all times.

Ware Museum is in the High Street and quite visible as you drive down the street. It is currently open two days a week. When I arrived I was encouraged to check in using the Serco Track and Trace app which was not a problem. I was also asked for my details. Going round the museum there is a one way system so you can see everything on display and there are a number of staff in various rooms to tell you about what is on display. Even though the museum is small there is plenty to see and there were a few parties looking around when I went which was good to see. Social distancing was maintained throughout.

I am a regular at the jolly fish, and the staff are always very friendly and attentive and make me feel very welcome. I have heard by friends that molly (the team member of the year) had received a promotion which she well deserved because she always makes sure my cappuccinos are made on time, even before I walk through the door, she brings light to the pub!
