Definitely one of the best family accommodation places we have had. Very helpful staff. Plenty of room for our very varied large family unit. Including teens & young children (The dates on trip advisor won't let me change to actual)

Visited many times. Love the donkey demonstration turning the wheel to collect water. Lovely place with lots of history - amusing video summarizing the castles history "narrated" by Jupiter the donkey (my kids loved it) lots of English Heritage events throughout the year. Jousting our particular favourite. Visited many times!

Took my 7 year old here and spent around an hour or so having a look round. What I liked about this particular site is that its right in the middle of an ordinary street of houses so really brings home the history beneath our feet! We also liked the garden and the information board about what the Romans used various plants and herbs for. My son enjoyed any gruesome fact he saw and the little trail they gave him. The staff were really helpful and friendly, small gift shop on exit. Went when it first re opened after lockdown and the additional covid measures they had in place were good too.

Compton Beach

Lovely beach on the south coast of the Island. Wonderful sandy beach, but be aware of the rocks in the sea at high tide. Parking available at the top of cliff, but try to get here early if the weather is good as it does fill up quickly. Unfortunately toilets were also closed when we visited, luckily we had no need for them, but could see it being a problem if visiting with young children.

Robin Hill Country Park

Reviewed By DanHBoyle - Upminster, United Kingdom

On our annual visit to the IoW we have never been to Robin Hill. In actual fact the last time I visited was probably 30 years ago so I don't have anything to compare this visit to. The visit this time was my mum, son (8) and myself and we spent from 1000-2000 in the park and had a great time despite the showers (some of which were very heavy). Did pretty much everything the park had to offer including the ship (after 3 times I was feeling ill), the slides, toboggan run, climbing areas, feeding the ducks and carp, the wooden maze, falconry display, Jungle Fever and also the Cheeky Monkeys. To start with, the park opens at 1000 and we got there at 1000. Parking was easy and getting in was easy also. A slight queue but nothing major and because the park is so vast you don't feel as though other people are on top of you. That is always a good thing for someone who doesn't really like crowds. The park staff were very friendly and in one of the cafes (nearest entrance), I asked one of the young female assistants for a plaster for my son who had cut his nose (not in the park) and she was very obliging and caring too. This pretty much summed up all the staff we came across on the day. My son and I went on the toboggan run where there is a 1.50GBP charge per person but to be fair that isn't that much and it was a fun few minutes riding down the run. If you are unlucky like I was, you will end up being stuck behind a Sunday afternoon driver and not doing much above slow baby crawling speed. Still, it was all about the children and my son really enjoyed it. We ate and had a few drinks at Robin Hill purely because we had such a good day and were staying for the 1830 Jungle Fever. The food prices were what you expect and a bottle of coke was 2.20 GBP so not expensive and not cheap but just middling. The highlight the day was the Cheeky Monkeys show which was part of the Jungle Fever. The 2 performers (Josh and Chris) were so talented, professional, engaging and entertaining too. Their talents with fire juggling was superb and they had no fear. My son (Kai, 8) went on stage too and encouraged the crowd to say Ole and then my son picked me to be blindfolded. I won't say much more than that as it will spoil any surprises. Great show though and they could easily entertain for 2 hours. Nothing more to add here. It was a great day and I can see if there is a large family then it could be quite expensive but they offer a free 7 day return so if you are on the IoW for a while, then that is a great option. I think Robin Hill has some good ideas planned. The area is extremely clean and well looked after so what more can I say. Ah yes, watching the Geese, Ducks and Carp being fed was great fun.
