Birding here is fun and varied. Access is good by car or on foot. Limpkins are as close to guaranteed as it gets, and easily seen, even from a car. Egyptian Geese are also here. Mottled Ducks and a variety of egrets and herons are present. Small passerines can be seen well.

We came to look for a bird that is rare for Florida--a Heermann's Gull more likely to be found in southern California. We found it walking among people on the beach, then on the pier railing. Other birds more typical of the area were also seen. Easy access to it included a free golf cart ride from the parking area. NOTE: Read the instructions at the parking kiosks carefully. The lot is patrolled frequently and tickets are high.
