One of the best unexplored places in Kottayam. Located very near to Illikkal kallu, this is a heaven for trekkers and people seeking adventure. We can park your vehicle very near to the waterfall and walk down to the waterfalls. Steps are a little steep. The waterfalls are perfect to take a bath and is very safe.

The Backwaters of Kerala is unique and is found nowhere else in the world. Backwaters are a network of lakes, canals and estuaries and deltas of forty-four rivers that drain into the Arabian Sea. The backwaters of Kerala are a self supporting eco-system teeming with life. The most exciting aspect of Kuttanadu is the Kettuvallam (traditional Houseboat) which has become the most popular tourism product in India today. We do operate Houseboats from Kumarakom & Alleppey, which were the popular backwater destinations in Kerala.

Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary

Reviewed By Sweetoes - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

It is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna and is noted for many species of migratory birds. Even though birds were not our interest, we really enjoyed the 4km walk (2km each way). We started our walk at 10am and we could not observe any birds, but we could hear their chirping and singing throughout the way. The walk was very pleasant because despite the sunny condition outside, the foliage provided a cool canopy over the entire stretch of the path. The root system was also very interesting to see as they had snaked themselves across the path in many places. At the end of the 2km walk in, we stopped by the banks of beautiful Vembanad Lake for a breather, before continuing another 300m to the observatory tower (which was locked). The 50-step stairs were badly eroded by rust and I hope they are replaced soon so that this tower can be preserved for visitors. Also, the authorities should put up a sign to inform visitors that the watch tower is locked and to warn us that the stairs were rickety and dangerous, rather than have us climb all the way up and find out that it was not worth anything. We finished the 4km leisurely walk in just under 2 hours. The park is very clean and the path clearly marked. There were also a number of security personnel around to ensure our safety.
