We have been to the island multiple times and enjoy our trip each time. We decided to get a Red Bug this time and it is well worth the money! We have thoroughly enjoyed the convenient, open air rides in the mornings and all throughout the day. The Red Bugs are gas powered, street legal, and have safety belts, cup holders, and a small basket for shopping bags! These are much easier to maneuver around the island and shopping village than a crew cab pick up! We will definitely be getting a red bug for further beach trips!

Although small, it is very enjoyable and educational and is definitely worth a visit if you are on Jekyll Island. The staff are wonderful and tolerate numerous questions. Be sure to be there for the "Meet the patients" or turtle feeding demonstrations, as they are something special and heart-warming to know that some injured turtles are being so well-cared for until they can be returned to the sea.

Despite the rainy cold weather weather we really enjoyed the historic tour on the tram through the cottages and original buildings of the Jeykll Island Club.

After entering into the Jekyll Island Entrance, first thing we noticed was the beautiful scenery with smiling faces to match the environment. (Great First Sign) I would recommend going here to go to the Beach. It's a pleasant and informative experience. Before reaching the Park, we noticed there were plenty of Shops and Restaurants to choose from. Shortly after we discovered, the Great Dunes Park which is within walking distance from all of the shopping areas. The Great Dunes Park is where their Convention Center is located. The Park is awesome because it has a large parking area fit for a Convention Center and the parking for the Beach Entrance is free. The Park's landscape is well-maintained, inviting and clean. There were beautiful Colorful Flowers and Green Palm Trees everywhere. Numerous shaded sitting areas for groups to sit and relax under the large Palm Trees. Spacious Pavilion areas with many benches for large groups to enjoy lunch or have an event. Clean Public Restrooms and many Water Fountain Stations to wash off from the Sandy Beach. A cool feature about this Park that I love is that they had Informative Fun Signage Posts throughout the Park to give Travelers information regarding wonderful facts about the Beach, things to discover while on the beach and what makes it unique. Also, there were Directory Signs to let you know where certain Park Amenities were located. When walking down the beautiful wooden bridge toward the beach, we noticed the very scenic great dunes blowing peacefully on top of the white sand. Then the Beautiful view of the Beach Water appears and it is gorgeous. The Beach is very peaceful. There is no parking on the beach so the sand was really soft and preserved. The water is not blue/green but the water is soothing and actually healing...lol Recently, I had suffered from Eczema but after playing in the water, it cleared my skin (Tabee Island Beach Water has the same effect, healing water). I would always suggest that every Traveler that visits the Beach to atleast try to dip their entire body in the water before they leave. A Great Sea Bath is always a Natural Healing Factor with many beneficial elements that our body needs. The way the dunes are arranged, it provides plenty of areas for social distancing and providing Visitors with private areas for their family to enjoy each other. Food & Drinks were allowed and they just simply asked that everyone do their part and clean up behind themselves inwhich they had placed plenty of trash areas for Visitors to throw items away. The Beach Currents were strong but peaceful. They weren't too aggressive that children couldn't enjoy themselves. The sand was soft and the water was warm. During the evening hours the Currents tend to get stronger/higher so I always try to go early when the sky is clear and has less wind so the water is warm and the wave currents are low. While on the beach, I noticed very minimal traffic. The Visitors that I did see, were a variety of Young and Elderly Couples. Everyone respected each other and greeted one another so the environment was peaceful which helped ensure every Visitor received an opportunity to enjoy their visit comfortably and relax. Great Trip and Awesome Experience. I always thought Georgia had only one beach but now I see why this was a hidden gem. I would suggest people visit with a thoughtful peaceful heart, ready to relax and appreciate one of Life's Natural Beauties. Great Vacation Destination for Couples. Jekyll Island works hard to ensure Every Visitor enjoys their Stay and Receive a Relaxing Trip. In return, I would suggest that Visitors do their part and keep a calm spirit, respect others, maintain the clean environment and have a Great Time ????

I attended the Georgia Tourism Conference at the Jekyll Island Conference Center and was so impressed. What an open, inviting facility that draws on the beauty of the island through the architecture, decor and artwork displayed throughout. The food was wonderful (I want the recipe for the loaded baked potato salad!), classrooms comfortable, Wifi fully functional, and restrooms plentiful and clean. The proximity of the convention center to the nearby town center with shops and restaurants was nice, as was the temptation of the palm trees, beach and ocean just outside. Beautiful facility!

Returning May 14, 2021! Amid the peace and serenity of Jekyll Island is an exciting family attraction – Summer Waves Water Park. Known for its cool, refreshing waters, clean surroundings, and amazing views of the Jekyll River, Summer Waves offers a variety of ways to beat the heat. From lazy laps around Turtle Creek to high-speed thrills down Pirate’s Passage, there’s no limit to the special memories you’ll make. Whether it’s your family, friends or group – come on in. The water’s perfect.
I have always loved Summer Waves. I have been coming here for a LONG. TIME. It is a small, yet fun place. There are 2 areas for small children (which I avoid since I do not have little kids) and then there are 3 slides. One is a large, fast double ride slide that my teen and I LOVE! The other 2 have 2-3 slides that are fun, easy and a great ride. They also have a tide pool which we LOVE to hang out in. The lazy river goes around the middle and is a great place to hang out. The day we went it was closed because the lining had a leak, so when we left we asked for a rain check ticket and they gave us one. A second day for our inconvenience is excellent customer service in my book! There is a Larry's Giant Subs inside the park and they do a great job. They also have some small snack areas with ice cream and such (we didn't visit those). What I did want to warn others about is the walking around... it. is. hot. When I say hot, I mean HOT. The pavement got so hot that I actually had blisters burned onto the soles of my feet by the time we left (OUCH). On the 2nd day that we went, we both wore flip flops around due to the lesson learned the first time with the blistered feet!
