Through the Haida Heritage Centre at Kay Llnagaay we celebrate the living culture of the Haida. Through our language, art and stories we share our relationship with the land and sea that which shapes, nourishes and sustains us. Kay Llnagaay protects and fosters Haida culture by reaffirming our traditions and beliefs, encouraging artistic expression, and serving as a keeper of all that we are. Kay Llnagaay is a place for the Haida voice to be heard. The Haida Gwaii Museum opened in 1976 and continues to build an international reputation for showcasing Haida historical and contemporary art, All-Island artists and an outstanding collection of objects, artifacts and scientific material culture. The Museum is committed to encouraging and facilitating creative dialogue and exploring a more holistic and critical view of the multiple and diverse ways of understanding Haida Gwaii — home to one of the most prominent Northwest Coast First Nations cultures (Haida), and rich ecosystems in Canada.
We found we needed two visits to do justice to this amazing centre and still felt we'd love to return! We went first when we were at the beginning of our visit to Haida Gwaii and then we returned just before we left. So much to learn and experience here...not enough time. Definitely a must must must!

Touring the waters around Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve, Haida Heritage Site and National Marine Conservation Area on Haida Gwaii since 1988 has earned us a growing reputation for providing fun, educational and safe wilderness adventures at affordable prices. We offer boat tours from one to four days long including fixed roof accommodations and meals. We rent and transport sea kayaks and passengers into the Gwaii Haanas area. We have a small outdoor gear store at our office in Sandspit. We also own and operate the Seaport B&B in Sandspit.

Please note that Naikoon is a large provincial park and that Agate Beach and Misty Meadows are well over half an hour apart. While hiking to the Pesuta is a great experience, it is much closer to Misty Meadows (Tlell area) and not within walking distance from Agate Beach. Agate Beach has oceanfront campground spaces that, while not especially private, afford you easy access to the rocky beach. Most stones are pretty smooth there though. Despite its name, this isn’t the best place to find agates. You’ll have better luck at low tide if you park at the Tow Hill Community sign on the way out to the beach and access the beach from there. Tow Hill/Blow Hole is Also a great experience. You can take either a flat trail out To Blow Hole (the viewing platform is wheelchair accessible!) or hike up to the top (2 lookouts, steep in sections). Regardless of time of year, be prepared for changing weather conditions including fierce winds and rain. Even in warmer temperatures the wind can make for a chilly beach stroll.

The Queen Charlotte Visitor Center is located on the waterfront with gorgeous ocean views. Open year round, we are the best local source of information on visiting Haida Gwaii. Inside the longhouse inspired building you will find engaging, resourceful staff, artisan galleries, an extensive gift shop as well as useful interpretive materials including a touch tank saltwater aquarium. Head outside to our interpretive garden and picnic area to relax and take in the fresh air. We also have a large parking area for RVs and clean indoor public restrooms.
I made several visits to the Information Centre during my week in Queen Charlotte, and Skye was extremely helpful every time - whether guiding me about hiking trails, local artists, or restaurants, she was eager to inform. She helped make our visit a success. The Centre itself is attractive and well laid out, with a fine assortment of souvenirs, local art work, and guide books.

Haida Style Expeditions is a Haida Owned and Operated, family business practicing sustainable tourism on Haida Gwaii. Owners, James & Shawn Cowpar, identical twins, offer over 25 years of experience in the tourism industry. A team of local professional guides, your safety is our number one priority. We provide a variety of cultural tours into Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve, Marine Conservation Area, and Haida Heritage Site. Guests will have the opportunity to visit ancient village sites, meet the Haida Gwaii Watchmen, watch for wildlife, and experience nature on any one of our three different tours into Gwaii Haanas. On our West Coast Tour, we explore the Ancient Village site of Ts'aahl (Chaatl) where one can view two of the last frontal poles still standing since contact and learn about the history of the village. Interesting in fishing on the West Coast of Haida Gwaii, enjoy catching salmon and halibut while listening to local stories. Haawa (thank you)
