In The Heart Of Nuits-saint-georges, The Caveau Moillard Welcomes You 7 Days A Week For A Free Tour Of The Winery And Its Majestic Vaulted Cellar From The 19 Century. Back In The Boutique, Discover A Range Of Over Fifty Wines, Of Which Many Are Premier And Grand Crus. To Finish There Is A Tasting Of Some Of The Great Burgundy Wines
Did the "first-level tasting," which is of 5 burgundies, from lower to greater quality: one regional, one "village", one "named village," and two Nuits-Saint-Georges (see photos for names). Very good explanation of the differences, which are also evident when you taste them (tour and explanation available in English as well). Short tour of the cave (4.5 meters underground, constructed in 1850) - not much to see except an incredibly long line of barrels. It was 8 euros very well spent. No pressure to purchase, and we just dropped in, with no reservation, but it was a relatively quiet time of the year. You go away educated (and impressed) about the wines of Burgundy. The caveau is close to downtown, with parking available. And take advantage of being in Nuits-Saint-Georges to take a walk through the vineyards, within easy walking distance of the caveau and the town. Yet another way to better appreciate the wines of this region!
