It's fascinating both as a museum and purely astonishing piece of architecture. The facade is mesmerizing. And the exhibit inside will give you a comprehensive set of information on Poltava's history with lots of curious artefacts. If I'd have to select only one museum in Poltava to visit, it would be this one.

Remarkable selection of aircraft, mostly strategic bombers, but also some fighter-bombers. You can also go into the cockpits. Highlight for its rarity is probably the Tu-160, the white swan. All for just a few euros. Not much English is spoken (one guide was fluent) but everyone was super-friendly. Every cold-war enthusiast should visit. Three hours by train from Kiev.

It`s a replica of the house, where pioneer of modern Ukrainian literature - Ivan Kotliarevsky - lived almost all his life (it was his father`s house and since he never married - he chose to live in this modernized to his needs building). The house looks like traditional Ukrainian house from outside, but inside it`s rather urban dwelling from the beginning of 19 century`s Poltava. The museum is rather small, but I highly recommend to take the tour - everything is flashed out with proper information.

This is excellent museum whether you wish to be better acquainted with legacy of prominent Ukrainian writer Panas Myrny or to experience life as it was at the beginning of the 20th century. Apart from cultural and historical significance, the house is unique - it remains untouched since last members of Panas Myrny`s family lived here - completely preserved with all furniture, papers, little things and even garden and pond. Museum itself situated not very close the city center, but it can be easily reached by public transport and it`s situated in a rather calm and nice part of the city. I would highly recommend to take a tour, detailed information make you feel the life of the house and the family in its fullest.
