Discover LA during your stay at Venice Suites, featuring spacious suites near Santa Monica with full kitchens that are perfect for extended stay lodging.
Guest parking is expensive at $20 a day/night and inconveniently located several blocks from the hotel. You pull into a narrow alleyway and put on your hazard lights to unload, then you have to go park your car several streets away in a garage (unless you can find street parking-good luck with that!) It's about a 10 to 15 minute walk, not the five they tell you. The building itself is funky, old carpeting in hallways, with an ancient elevator. However the rooms are fine, clean. Dishes and glasses were left in the dishwasher, rather than put away in the cabinets. For our "partial" ocean view room (east of the stairway), you had to crane your neck around the corner to see a smidge of water. The windows faced other building windows. The rooftop lounge area does not look as nicely staged as this photo shows. Neighborhood is sketchy, lots of people hanging around, and can be noisy certain times of the day. Quiet in morning and at night for the most part. Would I stay here again? No.

Terrific new hotel, large rooms, great breakfast. Very modern and has a lovely, friendly staff. Tip: to go up the elevator, press which for you want on the iPad and it will tell you which elevator to take.

We stayed here for two days with our teenage sons who skateboard and wanted to see the beach. It was more like a hostel and I think they have monthly rentals. There were homeless fighting outside all night. The roof top was the scariest part- we encountered someone hiding doing drugs and another person solicited us for a taro card reading. They were not staying in the hotel. There’s the smell of weed everywhere. I’m not sure there is staff there past midnight and I don’t think they question who comes in. Definitely not comfortable sleeper sofa and dirty. I felt guilty putting our kids on it. It’s too bad- the building could be really cool and the views are phenomenal. Stay in Santa Monica.

Everything was awesome. From the staff to the room to the bar… wonderful service and definitely a vibe. I will 100% be returning. Another added perk was that I felt very safe staying there! Would recommend to any and all!!

Asked the lady if they served food and she looked at me like I had three heads. When I asked if there was somewhere to get food nearby she said no...WTF?!? The room stank of cigarette smoke, and the shower was cold...

If you check Google, multiple people who booked “The Rosemary” as a short-term rental found the management money hungry and unresponsive to Covid concerns. We were long-term tenants, and we were treated no better in the end. “The Rosemary” is also The Haas Building, a rental apartment building until it started converting a couple of years ago. To drive tenants out, management raised rents and stopped including a parking space in the rental fee. For us, it was well over a 10% increase at one time. Then, since Covid-19 hit, the building has been almost completely empty, except for the handful of remaining tenants like us. This summer, the manager approached my wife personally and told her they wanted our apartment, to work on it for when they could offer short-term rentals again. They offered us another apartment, but it didn’t meet our needs. We got the message, though, and quickly found another apartment. The management took half of our security deposit for our not giving THEM 30-days notice, to cover “idle days” for the apartment. The building is empty – we were asked to vacate our apartment. We were excellent tenants for four and a half years: we were never late with the rent, we gave the multiple front desk staff Christmas presents every year, my wife baked them all cookies for the holidays. We thought we had a friendly relationship with the manager and owner. We wrote the manager – the one offering the lame excuses below about Airbnb polices – to express our objection to their withholding the money. He ignored us and never responded. That’s what we got for our good tenancy, after we were asked to move. They took the money because they could.

Honestly, I hate to put this hotel on blast, but it is hands-down the worst hotel visit of all time for me. I really wanted to give it one star, but considering I never reported my issues to anyone, I decided to go against my original judgment and give this hotel two stars instead of one — all for the sake of fairness to the staff. If I had reported my problems, I think they would have attempted to resolve; however, I simply did not report out of fear of making everything worse. I checked into the hotel late, and I was greeted by a nice staff member. While working with me, he had to stop and help another man, who was reporting some riff raff, shady loiterer in the parking lot. Apparently, the loiterer was so suspect that the hotel patron chose to sleep in his car rather than in the hotel. He did not want his stuff stolen. The employee then tells me that I am welcome to call him “if I see anything that makes me uncomfortable,” because he also doubles up as security. Cue the anxiety, am I right? So — I get into the room, and I am super paranoid. That is when I pulled up TripAdvisor, and I saw all of the other terrible reviews. I started to panic at the reviews’ mentions of how dirty the beds + hotel was, so I opted to sleep in yoga pants, socks, and a long sleeved shirt. I took an extra shirt I had and put it over the pillows (like you would dress a child), and I slept on top of my shirt. All I could think was that the sheets were dirty. Oh, they were also paper-thin, which may just be to combat California heat. That being said — I live in equally as hot Louisiana, and we have much thicker sheets. I was comfortable sleeping on the bed this way, and once I went to sleep, I was not interrupted + slept comfortably. I woke up + thought that I was being super dramatic about everything, and I felt really bad for being a brat about the conditions. I called my husband + told him I panicked for no reason + that all was well. I got dressed + tried to watch television. The volume on the tv was garbage, and it was inaudible at the highest volume setting. I decided that tv was not necessary, so I watch shows on my phone. All is well. I leave for the day, and I come back again late at night. The same man is working, and he asked which room I was going — my guess as a security measure. I told him + kept walking... and walking quickly. I get into the world’s slowest + shadiest elevator (did I mention the shady elevator?), and I get to my floor. Doors open, and I am greeted by what smells like rancid fecal matter. The smell haunts me all the way through the hall to my door, which is very, very far from what I deem to be the originating site of smell. I pray to the sweet Father above that the smell is not inside my room, and praise be His name — it wasn’t. I latched all the doors + blasted the air, just in case the smell tried to enter my safe place. I dress back up in my long sleeved sweater, yoga pants, socks, etc, and I bravely slept in the bed. I stayed a total of three nights, and I was very much ready to leave. I know I will be back in the area one day, and I know where I will not be staying. Other items to help you when making your reservation: PROS •Nice Iron + Ironing Board •Nice Staff who Wants to Protect You at All Costs •Multiple Lighting Options for When You Are Scared •Grab-and-Go Breakfast Snacks •Located Extremely Close to In-N-Out Burger and Chick-Fil-A CONS •Everything I Mentioned Previously •Paper-thin Walls + Floors •Food Left in Hallways for Hours on End So — do your homework before booking, my friends.
