A unique, independent gift shop where everything has been created in Scotland - full of lovely, Scottish art and gifts. All of our artists and makers are based in Scotland and we support around 60 other small businesses.
This lovely little gift shop is close to home and has lots of little treasures that friends might get as gifts, or I might keep for myself- love the little ceramic houses as ornaments, and the prints too. Love that it is all artists that work in Scotland that are the suppliers.

Having heard we have a new cheese deli in Shawlands, it just had to be visited .....it's my duty! Apart from anything else, this year it's my responsibility to arrange our Christmas cheese board, or two???? I don't know about you, but having gone to other specialist cheese shops it's been a bit intimidating as I stand amongst the towers of unidentified goodies....what do I want...where do I start????????? So, managed to find the shop, even found a parking space!! First impression, very nicely selected cheeses, all the other accoutrements for a fabulous cheeseboard and the glorious comfort at the end of both Christmas dinner and Christmas Day. "Would I like to taste?", well, you'd better believe it! Nicely done, shavings from an amazing blue, then a particularly "moreish" cheddar. Amazing brie which will be perfect by 25th, even a goat's milk version...yes, I bought both, well you would, wouldn't you? So, really lovely selection of cheeses, seriously helpful and knowledgeable staff, who didn't mind taking time to help me choose or to answer my questions. At last, a brilliant cheese monger on this side of the city, Santa must have heard my wish!

Designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1901 and built in the attractive setting of Bellahouston Park in the 1990s, House for an Art Lover allows the visitor an insight into Mackintosh's renowned talent not just as an architect, but as a an artist, designer and pioneer of the Modern Movement. The venue runs regular arts themed events and is home to the popular Art Lover's Cafe.
My partner and I very much enjoyed our recent visit to the House for an Art Lover. We felt safe, the staff were excellent, the afternoon tea scrumptious and the music room beautiful. Thank you for providing such a lovely, peaceful atmosphere.
