The millennium promenade is actually a chain that has been marked into the pavement for you to follow from the dockyard area, past the Hard, the station, Gunwharf quays, the Camber docks, old Portsmouth, the cathedral, the square & round towers, the hot walls and the new studios, round to spice island with views back over to the spinnaker etc. It’s a nice walk with plenty of places to stop for a drink or some food. A self guided tour really. Hot walls being a family fave.

Lymington Yacht Haven is a Five Gold Anchor Marina offering luxurious facilities, easy access to a number of exciting locations and a host of benefits to berth holders and visitors. Based in the mouth of Lymington River on the edge of the New Forest, Hampshire, the marina is the premier choice for sailors in the Solent due to its perfect location, protected harbour and luxury facilities. On-site, the Haven Bar and Restaurant provides stunning views along with delicious food and drink. A host of marine services are located at the marina along with a well-stocked chandlery. The town is only a short walk away, or you can rent one of the marina bikes, electric bikes or the popular electric car! Lymington Yacht Haven has 500 marina berths, all fully serviced with water, electricity and free Wi-Fi. The full range of boatyard services are also available including hoist, scrubs and storage ashore.
We enjoyed an afternoon walking from the shops along the promenade at Lymington overlooking the Yacht Haven. There is so much activity-we watched the I.O.W. Ferry leaving, the R.N.L.I. rescue launch returning with a patient and all sorts of small craft and activities.

Wonderful walking up the zig zag. A path that zig zags up a hill. At the top you can walk along the hanger. The zig zag has a bench half way and at top with beautiful views. Car park behind pub with toilets.

On the banks of the Beaulieu River, in the heart of the New Forest, you will find the peaceful haven of Buckler’s Hard, the unique and picturesque village where warships for Nelson’s navy were built. Visit the historic cottage displays recreating 18th century life, take a delightful riverside walk or enjoy a cruise on the tranquil Beaulieu River. Gift shop and Captain’s Cabin Cafe. Open every day (except Christmas Day).
Enjoy being by the water, watch the boats and yachts cruising by, enjoy a boat trip up the estuary towards the Solent and then a refreshing drink and food at the pub. The workers cottages are very quaint and it has the museum there too.

Located at the north-west corner of Guildhall Square before you reach Victoria Park this is an impressive memorial to those who gave their lives both military and civilian from Portsmouth and surrounding areas in defending our freedom. I confess that I have never really had a close up look before at the list of names so took some time today to look across all of the names. It’s a poignant reminder. Easy to get to and should be on your walking list as you tour this famous city that is very rich in history, more so than any other city on the south coast.
