This stunning Venetian fortress sets the tone for your visit to the island. It is really the first thing you notice as you approach by boat and is excellent. So much history through the Ottoman empire, Turkish and Greek influences all make this a remarkable structure. Don’t forget your water and camera as you will get lots of great photos around this area.

One of the few attractions we visited in Crete, which they do not charge you for seeing. A short stop, most probably not a long visit, though. What you will find there are flooded stone walls of past buildings, remains of an old bridge across the water, a beautiful mosaic floor of an old Christian basilica - definitely a historical site with a positive vibe.
