New Westminster is a historically important city in the Lower Mainland region of British Columbia, Canada, and is a member municipality of the Greater Vancouver Regional District. It was founded by Major-General Richard Moody as the capital of the new-born Colony of British Columbia in 1858, and continued in that role until the Mainland and Island Colonies were merged in 1866, and was the Mainland's largest city from that year until it was passed in population by Vancouver during the first decade of the 20th Century.

While most reviews are based on the park’s nature views and “walk ability”, I thought I would point out the sporting nature of the park. First though the positive reviews already posted about the park are spot on. As well though, you can see some excellent hockey games and indoor sporting events in the arena, and see lacrosse games on the field.

A perfect destination on the Fraser River in New Westminster close to everything and yet so very far away. Open with terrific views of the mountains, river, bridges, trains, boats and so much more! Wide clean safe pathways suitable for Doggy walks, strollers or joggers. Benches are provided to offer a relaxed view of the river and it's activities. Easy access down to this SAFE river park with ample parking. A very quiet area with birds abound and open play grounds for the kids. Outdoor art adds to the joy of this venue. You will love the serenity at the water's edge and the people you might encounter any time of the year.
