The only complaint I have about my visit to the Hervey Bay Historical Village is that we did not have enough time allocated for the visit! If you enjoy learning more about our colonial history, you need have at least a day to spend rambling through the Village. We were privileged to have a Master Rope Maker, (Brian(talk about the history of rope making, and demonstrate how ropes are made.He gave an insight as to HOW the rigging was made for the replica ship Endeavour. We were told how rope making can be achieved from natural fibres as man made, and it was heartening to see Brian involve visiting kiddies in the process of twisting fibre into rope. Another demonstration was given by Lou in the smithy, where once again visiting children were included in the activities. Another volunteer member showed myself through a genuine settler's slab hut and explained how the bed had been constructed: nowhere near as comfy as today' mattresses. I always enjoy talking with volunteers, no matter what the subject matter. They always share such interesting anecdotes. As I wrote earlier, there was so much to see and too little time to savour it all. My thanks for a most enjoyable visit.

I've lived in Hervey Bay for 20 years and recently purchased an amazing limited edition time lapse print of the Urangan Pier at night. My family and I are moving away and I couldn't think of a better reminder of our life in the Bay.

I stumbled across this little art shop and clothing store whilst on holiday in Hervey Bay from the UK. The owner and artist Ashleigh was incredibly helpful and framed some pictures for me and carefully wrapped them for my trip back to the UK. I enjoy looking at the picture of the pier in my home a lovely reminder of a wonderful trip to Australia and the lovely Hervey Bay. The pictures are lovely and a bit different from the normal pictures one finds in the likes Hervey Bay. The clothes too, were lovely and a great selection. The couple who run these two shops are delightful and I look forward to adding to my collection of pictures and clothes on my return this year. I highly recommend visiting the shop in Hervey Bay so nice to visit an independent shop.
