The statue of the Meiji Era Kabuki actor Ichikawa Danjuro IX as the character Kamakura Gongorō Kagemasa from the play 'Shibaraku' (Wait a Minute!) is very impressive, and outlandish by anyone's standards, even for the Japanese. Its tucked away at the back of Sensoji at the edge of the car park used by tourist coaches and is in front of the rear of the hospital. Its getting an odd reputation as the protector of the hospital (how legends are made and grow). Its well worth a visit if Kabuki is your thing
