On a sunny day this is an absolute must. We left Schull harbour and arrived on Cape Clear at middayt. We boarded the waiting boat to the lighthouse directly. On the way out we came across a pod of dolphins which was an added bonus and I heard you could also possible see breaching whales on some trips. The lighthouse is breathtaking and the tour gives you loads of photo taking opportunities. The water was clam but some kids did feel ill while we were at the lighthouse when the boat slowed down. After returning we spent a few hours on Cape Clear. On a sunny day this is a special place and there is a steep hill overlooking the bay that is worth the walk. Overall superb day out. One of Ireland's top attractions, forget Temple Bar and the Guinness storehouse this is the real deal. Ireland's teardrop has so much history. Just do it!

We had a perfect couple of hours visiting Ballycotton Lighthouse. Hazel, was the most enthusiastic and well informed guide, making our trip more memorable. It was a lovely sunny day and the views were spectacular.

You must make your way down the road from Kilbaha to the carpark at Loop Head. Walk to the right and look north to see try he cliffs , turn left and follow the path as it travels from the Atlantic to the Shannon Estuary. Smell the air and take lots of pictures.

This was fantastic, really interesting, great views. There is a lovely walk up to it, there's a coffee shop and a little museum giving details about life on a lighthouse. You can walk to the top of it and get a feel for what life was like in the early 20th century. Not to be missed if you are visiting Valentia.
