Property is in poor condition. Bathroom floor and walls were all water damaged. Bed was badly in need of replacement as the mattress was like sleeping in a ditch (yes, I have slept in a ditch). There is ZERO sound proofing between rooms. I could clearly make out conversations going on in rooms all around me. Power went out for hours with no remedy. Haven’t shaved in cold water in a long time. Thanks for the rustic experience Courtyard. But I’m not sure it was the look you were going for.

We booked the two bedroom suite for a family weekend which ended up as rained out. So we spent a lot more time in the hotel than expected. The room was comfortable and clean. comfortable beds, and chairs, 3 TVs, full kitchen. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The gym was a bit small but adequate. This will be our new go-to hotel when in the area.

The hotel staff that greeted us was excellent. The hotel itself was disgusting. The room had black mold in multiple places. There was also a roach infestation. We couldn’t even stay the first night. It was so unacceptable. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone!!

The carpets on the second floor are badly worn and have large stained spots . It seems the owner could at least cut out the bad sections to put in new, clean carpet. The sheets and pillowcases are old, worn, and stained. My wife claimed she could detect a smell on the pillowcases. The staff were kind enough to provide replacement linens for our room. The room had one upholstered armchair - the upholstery was stained and we dared not to sit in it. The room also had one desk chair whose height was adjustable. Unfortunately, as I sat in it, it slowly decreased in height as the mechanism was not able to support the weight of a 155-pound man. We stayed for two nights. There was no room service after our first night, so the staff gave us extra garbage bags for the trash cans. The staff is polite, friendly and tries to be helpful. But it is not possible to overcome all the problems with the facilities. The hotel does not offer breakfast, but does supply coffee. The International House of Pancakes is about one mile away from the hotel. The location of the hotel is good for those who plan to visit the nearby Yorktown museums and related tourist sites. We stayed on the evenings of May 28th and 29th of 2021 (Memorial Day weekend).

Motel is old outdated but my room was clean. Had a terrible misty odor that Fabreeze did not touch. I was traveling alone and there was no safety lock or chain on door. The mattress was fairly new and pillows were ok. But no protective covers. Sheets felt like sandpaper. I stayed 4 nights and never got fresh towels. However sister who was staying down the way had black grease in the sink and black mold all in the bathroom and bedroom. They left immediately. The male manager was very rude and hateful but his wife was nice and friendly. Did not receive the low rate as advertised for room. Said wasn’t available at this time…not a holiday or weekend.

Outstanding B&B! The rooms were magnificent and breakfast superb. The owner provided a nice history of the Hornsby House during a wine and cheese evening on Friday. Great location in downtown Yorktown right across from the Memorial. Within walking distance to the beach and many attractions.
