Posada Ingapirca is located in the most beautiful and mysterious region of the province of Canar. It is near the largest archaeological monument of Ecuador (Ingapirca Ruins), which was populated by Canari and Inca. It is a charming old farm house 200 years old, and is located 500 meters from the most important archaeological complex in Ecuador, Inca ruins and Canaris, where you can enjoy the Andean landscape. It has 21 attractive bedrooms furnished with colonial antiques and handmade fabrics. All rooms are carpeted and equipped with electric heater, fireplaces and minibars. Our establishment has adequate infrastructure to provide the best customer service and specializes in serving local food to the delight of tourists.
Pros: - The location is perfect for exploring the world heritage site - Different trails around the lodge for nature discovery - Hot-water bottles were provided to sleep without central heat system - Very friendly service for dinner and breakfast Cons: - No English knowledge at all - The electric heaters are so weak and the temperature at night was very low - Impossible to take a shower due to freezing temperatures in bathroom - The mattress was very hard

The Lodge is located in a cultural heritage of the country, the PACHAMAMA mountain just at 20 minutes of the airport of Cuenca. We offer really comfortable suites full equiped, also a nice place to celebrate the best events and a typical food restaurant. We also can help with a private transfer to the lodge.
Booked with Booking.com, Booking was confirmed, arrived, but lodge was closed. Long way on earth road up the mountains, waited at entrance for 45 Minuten, no one appeared. After a long day of travelling, not a wanted experience.

We picked the Inn since we wanted to visit nearby Ingapirca (15 min away by taxi at most). It is a lovely restored Hacienda in the middle of farmland, not far from Tambo and Canar. The room we had was spacious and had an old world country feeling. Paul, the chef and general caretaker, was helpful and kind. We liked the place quite a bit but strange to be the only guests for the two nights we were there. One night since we didn't arrange dinner in advance, there was no food. We found a nice alternative. It is very cold and the Inn provided space heaters but for some strange reason, the wood stoves in rooms and restaurant were not available for use. Would have been warmer and cozier if that was available.

This review is for the restaurant not the rooms, as I did not stay there. Generous portion size, the barley rice soup was amazing, and so comforting after our Sangay hike! Tasty meals, good service, very clean banos.

Found this place and booked room through one of those on-line hotel booking services. Chose it for location, but mainly because it appeared to be the best in town. It was a half block from the main bus stop in town, but off the main road, so it was quiet. The booking site said they were open from 08:00 am until late (23:00, I believe). So, we got there just before midday, intending only to drop off our bags – we didn't need the rooms yet. We rang the bell numerous times, but there was no answer. We tried phoning the telephone numbers on the entrance door, but kept getting "out of order msgs." We finally did make a connection, only to be told they would not open until 14:00, two hours later, and six hours after their advertised opening time. I convinced them to honour our reservation and let us drop our bags, at least. The woman on the phone said she'd be there in 15 minutes. Ten minutes later, she phoned back to say someone would be there in 15 minutes. Someone was, so we only had to wait 30 or 40 minutes to get in – standing on the street. We dropped our bags and went on our sight-seeing ways. When we returned at about 17:00, we had the same problem all over again. No one replied to the doorbell. And, despite calling the mobile phone number on the door 25 times, yes 25 times, and leaving multiple msgs, no one ever turned up or called back. Eventually, we tried pounding on the front door, and someone finally woke up from a nap to let us in. Of the 4 rooms we'd booked, only two had private bathrooms, but this was no surprise. We were told this at the time of booking. Mine was , one of the lucky rooms, and it was nice to have a shower, but the toilet had no toilet seat, so it couldn't be used. I still had to go down the hall to the shared bathroom to use the toilet. My room had no outside window, but it did have a large window facing the corridor -- which meant the lighting in the corridor shone into my room all night, even while I was trying to sleep. Something (a smoke detector?) made a chirping sound, twice, every 30 seconds, to make sure I couldn't go to sleep easily. Not sure if there is better accommodation in El Tambo, but I can't imagine worse. Maybe it would be better to stay in Cañar and take a 30¢ bus ride to El Tambo.
A special place to spend as a couple or with the family, our covered pool with heated water
