Decent rooms but...
Reviewed By Candy12345678902the staff was snippy most of the time. Not all of them, but you just don’t feel welcome. The rooms were good in the higher price category, nice extras like sauna or a whirlpool. Breakfast I cannot Rate correctly since there were these special COVID-19 rules, but there was most of the usual to choose from. Nothing out of the ordinary but okay, maybe better when there is no corona virus. So I’ll take that out of the rating. All in all I wouldn’t go again, if you don’t care for friendliness it is a decent hotel.

Reviewed By deank931Clean fresh bedsheets, comfortable bed. For an old building it was very modern and spacious rooms. Breakfast was great too with a wide selection and local produce. Parking is not ideal but it is a very old city. Location was fantastic right in the heart of the city.

Reviewed By Diane1437This was a last minute reservation. I chose this hotel because of the location and the price. Both were great! The room was simple but clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was very good and the staff was friendly! Will stay here again!

Very impressive
Reviewed By Carol HThis town was not highlighted in the Fodor's travel book which I was using as my guide for our trip. In doing a search thru Trip Advisor this hotel was in the right direction for a nightly stay. It was a little confusing when we arrived, there was a note on the door but since we could not read German we did not know what to do. Hotel Konig Ludwig is part of the Plankl Hotel next door. We were greeted and then taken to the registration desk. We were provided discount tickets to the town's Jerusalem Panorama and informed of a candle light activity that evening. The dining room associated with the hotel was fabulous and ate both dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Rooms were clean and spacious. We spent the next day in the town before leaving for Munich. It has much to offer and see. I recommend adding Altotting to your Germany trip and if you do, stay the night at Hotel Konig Ludwig and enjoy a meal and a good beer.

Central situated but not such a good hotel
Reviewed By hansolofhThe hotel is well placed just a hundred meters from the main open area in old city with the cathedral and town hall. It has a small lift so you do not need to carry your bags in a staircase as in many other small hotels. The room is not any special but acceptable as the bathroom however, one thing that was not to our liking was that the beds had just mattress covers no underlays. The breakfast was alls rather mediocre. And that there was no reception so over travel guide had to hand out the keys himself. So, in total I cannot recommend this hotel. The reason our group ended up in it was due to all the workers who was involved in the large repair work on the baptistry of the cathedral had occupied most hotel rooms in the town and will for long time.

Reviewed By Nathi86BayrinStadthaus Valentin: Eines der besten Beispiele dafür, dass visuelle Reize mittels moderner Medien, wie der Beschreibung der Website des Hauses anhand manipulativer Strategien gekonnt ausgtetrickst werden können. Eine pure Enttäuschung, da die Zimmer des Hauses dieser Hotel Gruppe in der Realität den Bildern auf der Internet Seite kaum ähnlich sieht. Zwar sind diese aufgeräumt, jedoch kaum vernünftig sauber gehalten. Direkt bei dem Betreten der engen Räumlichkeiten wurde ich von sichtbaren Dreck überrascht, welcher sich in der Dusche kaum entfernen lässt. Ekelfaktor sehr hoch. Dazu werden die Gäste auf kleinen im Zimmer hängenden Kärtchen noch aufgefordert, Strom oder Wasser zu sparen. Umweltfreundlichkeit? HAHA. Eine weitere Überraschung folgt, wenn man die "Mini-Bar" bzw. den Schrank des nicht vorhandenen Kühlschanks, der irgendwann wohl einmal vorhanden war öffnet. Gäste werden mit einer Karte vertröstet, auf der nahezu satirisch verfasste Erklärungen über das nicht Vorhandensein eines Kühlschranks verfasst worden sind. Beinahe witzig, würde keine so hoher Preis für eine Absteige dieser Art bezahlt werden müssen. Eine weitere kleine Karte mit einem " Danke" und einem lächelnden Emoji macht die Zustände meiner Meinung zufolge nicht wieder gut. Allgemein sind die Räumlichkeiten dermaßen überteuert, dafür dass nicht gründlich sauber in den Zimmern gemacht worden ist ist und um das Ganze noch einmal abzurunden mit dem Wohl der als herzlich willkommen geheißenen Gästen gepielt wird. Nicht einmal in den obersten Etagen sind Rauchmelder zu finden. Diese liegen unten vereinzelt auf den Treppen herum. Das Haus befindet sich außerdem etwas weiter weg, als an dem angegebenen Standort. Ohne Nachfrage hätte ich es nicht gefunden. Letzendlich fehlen einem die Worte für alles in der Gesamtheit. Ich würde das Zimmer nicht einmal für 25 Euro pro Nacht ein weiteres Mal buchen.

A very elegant and tasty meal
Reviewed By hansolofhThis restaurant situated in the Altstadthotel Schex is completely covered in light wood. Especially the ceiling is very intricate and beautiful, I have seen nothing like it before. Our group was served a very excellent meal. The starter was some kind of green soup that was served very elegantly, see my picture. The soup was in a glass accompanied by a airy ball of something I still do not know on top of a nice sauce. As a main course where was a choice of chicken or a vegetarian alternative. The chicken dish was as elegant and tasty as the starter. We picked a perfect wine to it, a Primotivo from Lombardi. Primotivo is the very same grape that the American are killing in California under the name of Zinfandel. Finally, the desert of some mousse and cholate followed up this wonderful meal in a perfect way.
