Looking for a tropical Mexican fishing village with relaxing beaches, oceanfront seafood bars and restaurants, unspoiled reefs for diving and snorkeling, and waves suitable for championship surfing? Puerto Escondido has all that plus the Laguna de Manialtepec mangrove lagoon for tours combining kayaking, boating, bird-watching, and swimming in phosphorescent waters. Regularly scheduled airline service links Mexico City and Oaxaca to Puerto Escondido Airport (PXM).
Rent an umbrella at the town beach, Playa Principal, which parallels the Avenida Perez Gasga hotel and restaurant row. Stop in one of the hotels near the beach for a drink or take the family horseback riding. A small freshwater lagoon at the mouth of the river, Rio Rigadillo, marks the border with Playa Marinero, which has waves suitable for beginning surfers. The whole family will enjoy the mile-long shoreline walkway known as Andador Escénico, which leads across the rocks to El Faro lighthouse and the Sueño Posible scenic overlook.
Beyond the lighthouse, Playa Principal transitions into Playa Manzanillo, a swimmable beach with clear waters extending towards Puerto Angelito. Rent a boogie board or equipment to snorkel the coral and rocks. If Playa Manzanillo gets too crowded on a holiday weekend, catch one of the water taxis linking Puerto Escondido’s seven beaches. Hire a skiff to take the family sightseeing or dolphin and sea turtle viewing. Fish for trophy sailfish or catch a dinner of yellowfin tuna, mahi mahi (dorado), grouper, roosterfish, mackerel, or snapper.
Watch the experts surf the 6-15 foot swells and hollow tubes of Playa Zicatela. International competitions in August and November draw the pros to demonstrate their prowess on the Mexican Pipeline.
Snorkel or surf the clear shallow waters beneath the high cliffs surrounding Playa Carrizalillo. High red cliffs, housing, and hotels surround riptide-plagued Playa Bacocho, which is good for long romantic beach walks and sunsets. For more adventure, dive Pressure Point’s tectonic plate fault lines or Punta Colarada’s volcanic overhangs, ledges, and lava rock swimthroughs. If you are lucky you will see lobsters, stingrays, moray and snowflake eels, barracudas, yellow tangs, parrotfish, and puffers.

Amazing! If you are debating about Losodeli and another place, stop debating, go to Losodeli. I had been to Puerto before while working remotely and I stayed at an Airbnb. The place was nice, but the wifi was very unreliable there. I heard from someone else that Losodeli had the best wifi in Puerto, so I decided to move there. BEST decision ever. I had zero issues with the wifi, it is fast and reliable and I was able to work remotely there without any issues. On top of that, the ambiance in Losodeli is great. Very nice, chill place. I meet really cool and open people there, everyone is very friendly and nice. Also, the staff is super attentive and care about you have a good experience. Highly recommend!

Authentic Mexican neighborhood with best swimming beaches in town Tower Bridge Hostel is a beautiful place in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca that has the amenities and charm of a small resort. We are not in the very touristy zone of Puerto Escondido, but have a lot of exciting and reasonably priced activities to offer. If you are looking for the authentic Puerto Escondido you will find it here! The area is very quiet and safe at night. Our location is right between the city center and Puerto Escondido’s only three safe swimming beaches. Playa Carizalillo, Playa Coral and Playa Manzanillo can be reached in 12-20 minute walks from the hostel. Rich and Cheap Food The local Benito Juarez Market with its lively Mexican atmosphere is just 850 meters (10 minutes) up the road. Social Melting Pot The hostel's goal is to provide an environment where people from all over the world can get together, have a great time and share their travel experiences.
I have heard good things about the hostel throughout my trip through México and therefore decided to book 3 days. In the end I stayed for 3 weeks. I love this place, the staff and the vibe in general. Especially through the activities with Romy we quickly grew together to a big family and extended our stay again and again. The rooms are really big, it doesn't get too hot at night because of the many fans, the kitchen has everything you need and the pool is unique. The hostel is not quite centrally located but this makes you explore much more and also the tourist areas are within easy reach.

I stayed in One Love for four nights and loved my stay. I booked a double bungalow with a porch/hammock which was even better than in pics. The bungalow and the outdoor space were secure and felt private. The staff were incredible and always there to help and the location was perfect, walking distance from La Punta but on a quiet/secure street. The bungalow with spacious bathroom was also incredibly clean as staff cleaned rooms daily. The roof terrace was also a highlight as it allowed space to work with good wifi and shade/coolness from the heat (I visited in May which is one of the hottest months).

The service and atmosphere here are just unbeatable! I have to give the caveat, though, that my boyfriend and I stayed in July (COVID-19 still closing down a lot of things) and we were the only ones at the entire place. Talk about value! Although, we both agreed we would have liked it even if we weren't the only ones. Everything was kept impeccably cleaned and well maintained. Beautiful art, plants, etc. everywhere; our room even had fresh flower arrangements! We stayed in a private room with bathroom, and it was spacious, spotless, with great AC. They left thoughtful touches like little chocolates and face masks. The only thing I think we would have changed is the water pressure/shower situation--works but I think it just needs a new shower head, kinda sprays everywhere. We were provided wonderful free breakfasts, including fruit, yogurt, sandwiches, local dishes, etc. There's a popcorn maker, pool tables, convenient drinks fridge (you pay for at the end), bikes you can borrow for free, etc. The list goes on! The pool is also 5/5, relaxing, well maintained, plenty of chairs and shade. Location is walking distance to restaurants and the beach. We really could not get enough of this place and the great service there. Way better than multiple of our Airbnb stays. We would absolutely stay again and recommend anyone else to!

Today, with a youthful and friendly personality, we seek to provide an experience that suits the needs of our clients, fitting perfectly with the essence of Puerto Escondido. MAYFLOWER has a terrace where you can relax while having a coffee with an amazing view to the main beach, it found a few meters. And at night, we have a bar and pool table where you can have fun and meet people from different countries. We are located very close to banks, supermarkets and bus terminal. Which provides us with an excellent location. This has led to the recurrence of our customers. However, every day we try to improve every time to overcome the expectations of our guests. Puerto Escondido ... you have to live it and Mayflower Hotel & Hostel are ready to welcome you.
Everyone at Hotel Mayflower, especially Hector (an owner), made me feel very welcomed during my week-long stay. Hector took at least an hour of his time to help me successfully connect with my phone service provider! He talks with his guests and even receives hugs from some return guests. The staff provides service in Spanish and English. The location of Hotel Mayflower is central to many of the vendors, restaurants and beaches.
