The rock citadel of Uchisar is a weird and wonderful structure, resembling some kind of Jim Henson creature emerging from a pile of stones. Spend some time exploring its hand-carved hallways and chambers before climbing to the top to admire the surrounding view. Or take it all in from a completely different angle and hire a hot air balloon to transport your Uchisar experience to new heights.

Ebru art, Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO. NAİLE BOZKURT Intangible cultural heritage is CARRIERS. WHAT IS EBRU? One of the most common methods of decorating, bookbinding the endpapers of hand-bound books is Ebru. Classic Turkish Ebru, which is also known as Turkish marbled paper, is made by drawing designs with paint on water, and then carefully placing paper (or materials, such as glass etc.) on the surface of the water in order to absorb the paint. Ebru seems magical, and yet it is improbably simple. The basics haven’t changed very much over the past several hundred years. It still involves depositing bits of color on the surface of water.
Beautiful shop, incredibly talented owner, who welcomed us in and was very kind to our daughter, giving her a wonderful lesson on Ebru art. We loved our visit and will definitely be back again!

Had the best time in Alaturca Taner today!Just happened to be wandering by and something in the shop caught our eye so we popped in for a look. Little did we realise we’d spend a couple of hours there looking over seven rooms of gorgeous items (ceramics, carpets, antique and new jewellery, souvenirs etc) and having the extremely knowledgeable and good natured staff drag out half the shops kilims to show us. There was no hard sell, lots of good natured haggling and tea shared before we walked out not only with some very well priced kilims, but also maps of the area, advice on some things to do nearby and the kind offer of assistance if we got lost! Can’t recommend visiting this store highly enough. Taner and his team are fantastic and the store is huge and is filled with something for everyone. Thanks for a great afternoon Taner (and for the boxes of tea!!), we had a blast. We’ll definitely be back!

My husband and I accidentally found this shop after the local bus dropped us off at uchisar to go to the castle. The owner is SOOO nice and goes out of his way to answer any questions you have. He sells a variety of different suveniers but what really caught my eye was all the stone work. Absolutely stunning and beautiful!!! I wish I had two big suit cases I could fill just in his shop alone. What sets kapadokya onyx shop appart from the rest of the tourists shops in gorome or the rest of cappadocia is that most of the stone work is made right at his shop guaranteeing you lock in the best price! He also has a HUGE variety compared to other stores in town. I am looking forward to coming back and buying more things from him! 5 big stars!!

summit of Cappadocia, watching the landscape of fairy chimneys and Uchisar Castle tea, coffee is a unique place where you can sip their. Also a gift shop.
We were walking around and found this special place by accident. We are so thankful we did. Recep, the cave man, lives in a seven story stone cave (which you can visit - it's quite fascinating!) and has a small cafe outside which offers a stunning view of the Cappadocian landscape. The Cave man is a wonderful host. He served us lovely tea, pumpkin seeds and peanuts. He knows quite a few languages (including German for example) and is such a nice guy. He's a very interesting and loving person with whom you can have a nice chat about live and the area. He grew up there so he knows many things about Cappadocia. He also has a small store downstairs where he sells beautiful jewelry which you should definitely take a look at. Thank you to the Cave man for making us feel so very welcome! We wanted to stay for a quick cup of tea and ended up sitting there for 1,5 hours.
