Rotherham /ˈrɒðrəm, -ðərəm/ ( listen) is a large town in South Yorkshire, England, which together with its conurbation and outlying settlements to the north, south and south-east forms the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham, with a recorded population of 257,280 in the 2011 census. Historically in the West Riding of Yorkshire, its central area is on the banks of the River Don below its confluence with the Rother on the traditional road between Sheffield and Doncaster. Rotherham is today the largest town in a contiguous area with Sheffield, informally known as the Sheffield Urban Area and is as such an economic centre for many of Sheffield's suburbs — Sheffield City Centre is 5.6 miles (9.0 km) from Rotherham town centre. Rotherham was well known as a coal mining town as well as a major contributor to Sheffield's steel industry.

We've lost count of how many visits we have made to Grimm & Co, but every visit has been fantastic. We have been to short workshops lasting just half an hour, or to longer workshops taking two hours or more, and all of them have been amazing. We've been on monster hunts, written songs, and made potions, but you don't have to go on a workshop to have a great time here. Even when we just call in to browse, we've written letters to magical creatures and received replies about a week later (after the post owls have braved dragons, Godzilla, and even Cthulhu and the Wendigo to deliver our post). We've chosen books from the forgotten library, we've voted for our favourite something in the weekly voting ballot - most recently Ariel or Princess Jasmine, but also Star Wars or Star Trek, Marvel or DC, Dragons or Unicorns, and many more. We've searched for fairy doors and tiny elf books, we've used the magical ability scales to find out what sort of magical creature we might be, and we've done quite well in the Lucky or Unlucky Dip. We've bought potions and lotions from the shop, all of which are great quality, and the Shop Elves are the friendliest and most helpful magical beings we've ever met, and they are wonderful with mortal visitors of any age. My son takes things to show them every time we visit and the Shop Elves always take the time to look at them and talk to him, and the workshops have improved his confidence. He asks to visit the shop even when no events are running just because he loves it there. We cannot recommend Grimm & Co enough and since we were lucky enough to discover it last summer (apparently it's not always visible to mortals) we have visited often enough to be feel like we are visiting good friends. We travel from Doncaster just to visit the shop but just along the road is Clifton Park and the Museum so Grimm & Co can easily be part of a longer day out but is well worth a special visit on it's own merit. For a visit without a workshop an hour is good but the longer workshops are well worth attending too, and we have so much fun we can easily spend over an hour looking around at the forgotten library and just having fun before we even start shopping. The workshops are great, a lot of time and effort is put into them, and theres the added excitement of the secret door and the beanstalk!

Lawns Farm Shop

Reviewed By hezzie2125 - Rotherham, United Kingdom

We've been going to Lawns Farm Shop for years, the staff are really friendly and the food is top notch. Home made food and other locally sourced, high quality products and of course their lovely milk produced from the cows on the farm. Really meaty sausage rolls and large scotch eggs that don't have a big gap between the egg and sausage meat like the mass produced stuff so are really tasty and filling. They have milk, cheese, pies, ready meals, chutneys, sauces, coffee's cooked ham, home made dripping and delicious potted meat, fresh duck and hen eggs, black pudding, sausages, bacon, Barnsley chops, liver, gammon etc etc, we had a rump steak last week and it was so tender it was like eating fillet steak. There's usually a fruit and veg stall at the weekends and occasionally the Coffee Rover makes it in to serve barista coffee straight from converted Land Rover. The courtyard parking is small but there's now overspill parking straight across and it's on a quiet country road. Lawns just keeps getting better and better, we love going.
