I recently visited Guernsey for a number of reasons, one being to visit Ben in his new shop. And if you like chocolate, this is the place to go. We sampled a few including a bronze winning malt whisky and lapsang souchong truffle. Ben has a passion for flavours and this shines through in award winning Mojito chocolate which won a World Silver ~ probably the nicest chocolate I have tried ~ . Well worth a visit and does mail order too.

The National Trust Victorian Shop will be closed at present for renovation work to be undertaken. The National Trust of Guernsey Victorian Shop and Parlour is one of the oldest properties in St Peter Port complete with its wooden reed shutters dating back to 1760. Situated within the line of the town walls, this little shop proudly displays packaging from a bygone era and a Victorian Parlour. Sweets are still sold by the quarter. Items for sale include teas and preserves, items handcrafted in Guernsey, a wide selection of hand knitted tea cosies. local souvenirs, tea towels, cards, books and toys. Old local coinage, first day covers, used stamps, books, postcards, linen, bric-a-brac, second hand books and wooden buttons fill the Collectors’ Corner. We are sole stockists of knitting patterns designed locally: Cobo Alice, Cobo Fred dolls and Puffin. The shop is open from Easter until the end of September and nine days prior to Christmas.
Traditional sweet shop lots of original artefacts coupled with old fashioned sweets for sale and local handicrafts. The shop is unaltered since Victorian times free to enter and the friendly assistant a mine of local information.

Candie Gardens is a beautiful 19th Century garden in the heart of St Peter Port with spectacular views over the harbour and neighbouring islands. The site also includes a café, a museum and art galleries (Guernsey Museum at Candie)and a research library (the Priaulx Library). Entry to the gardens and library is free, there is a small charge for the museum and art galleries.
We arrived at Guernsey after a terrible trip on mediocre Condor Ferries. As a result of bad weather, our Ferry on Wednesday was cancelled and we could only travel on Thursday without our car as the ferry was packed. We were staying at the excellent Duke of Richmond Hotel and, as it was near the port, decided to walk. It was a good decision as it included a walk through Candie gardens which are a lovely municipal park. The gardens are very well maintained and very interesting with historic greenhouses, and excellent cafe and the Guernsey Museum and Art Gallery

The doors were still open after 5pm and you enter into a spacious and well lit area with a section set aside for quiet prayer and contemplation. A cheap guide leaflet gives you a tour with an unusually large number of commemorative plaques on the walls celebrating the many achievements of the Guernsey folk with names that echo in the street names of the town. A rather good little shop selling higher grade items which you are trusted to pay for.

Guernsey's largest public library has served the public since 1882 from the heart of St. Peter Port. Services on offer include the borrowing of books, DVDs, CDs, printed music, jigsaw puzzles and a growing electronic library. A growing cultural hub, the library supplies stock to community libraries throughout the island, hosts community events and has an increasing emphasis on culture and learning

We came on a Cruise Ship for the day and our first stop was this Tourist Info center. They have clean bathrooms, free WiFi, a comfortable area to sit with couches, and of course a gift shop where we bought mementos and picked up the "Discovery Pass," good for one year! We also got maps and helpful info on taking the bus around the island. Great job, Guernsey!
