The "Espace decouverte en pays du cognac" is an interpretation center about the history of the cognac countryside, situated on the site of the very oldest cognac company, the Maison Augier. This center is an excellent starting point for any journeys or visits of the region or the town of cognac itself : romanesque heritage, history of the Charente river, fona and flora... Beautifully maintained and kept public park, with historic buildings, pretty streams and gardens, the town hall... It is not always the case in France, but everything was clean and carefully manicured. They even have a few animals in the centre of it, for kids I guess.

An example of architecture from the Middle Ages, the Old House, also called the Lieutenant’s House, is the oldest house in the town of Cognac. This is one of the protected historical monuments (since 1933) in Cognac. Constructed around 1490, the house was preserved in it's original condition (oak beams, wooden carvings...). One can admire the rare painted ceiling from the 16th/17th century.

So glad we found this place. We needed info on how to find a Cognac Tour. The attendant was very helpful and gave us the info needed as to which tour was available. There are souvenirs in the place and well.
