Dont't miss it! Best panoramic views over Corfu town, the port area and over the sea all the way to the albanian mountains. It has taken a while, more than 2 years, but now (july 2020) the greek ministry of Culture has taken over the running of the New fortress from Corfu municipality that had abandoned and almost left it to decay. The 500 years old, impressive and dominating structure is now open for visitors. Every day except tuesdays, from 8:00 in the morning to 16:00 in the afternoon. FREE enrty, so far... Enjoy! The entrance to the fortress is located at the upper end of picturesque Solomou street. Well worth the climb!

A visit to the castle this September was a highlight of our holiday. Views were amazing. It was really interesting, very windy on the day we went. Had lunch at the Kastro which is always great. Especially the cheesecake. Flat shoes or trainers recommended.

You must do this if you are in Zante Town! Wear comfortable walking shoes though as the climb is long and seriously steep in places and then at the top, in the castle grounds there is a carpet of pine needles you don't want stuck in your foot (so shouldn't have worn flip flops!) The view from the top is simply breathtaking! The castle is in ruins but some of the Venetian buildings are still intact. It's an amazing place to visit and only costs 4 euros for adults, kids under 18 free!

Great walk on footpath below north walls of castle (turn left at first fire hydrant on main track up the hill). Awesome views south towards Myrtos Beach. You arrive at the back gate of the castle, near the abandoned building that was to house a museum. Head back through the main gate to the beautifully paved track back to Assos with great views over the village and harbour.

This is a hidden gem, not easy to find! It's a filming location for the durrells and is absolutely stunning. Take your swimming costume! The gardens are so naturally pretty and it's quite vast so take some water. Be aware there's a few roaming dogs so keep an eye out for little ones. The Palace was a small charge for adults but free for children. We all really enjoyed it, such a beautiful building in a tranquil setting. It had to be beautiful, its where Prince Philip was born. A must see!!

Came for a visit for a couple of hours so had a wander up here. Maybe sandals weren’t a good choice of climbing footwear, but I managed not to break any bones! Great views from the top!
