Matteo conducted this tour for myself and another solo traveller. It was very interesting and Matteo is very knowledgeable and was flexible to suit the types of things we wanted to see on this tour. Matteo spoke English very well and also injected plenty of humour into his dialogue! We finished the day at a fantastic agroturismo restaurant and Matteo was able to describe the dishes and local customs to us. We had a great day and wouldn't hesitate to recommend both Matteo and the tour!

This tour is worth doing it for many reasons! First, Kevin, the guide, is a local but has an English mother, so you won't struggle to understand him as it happens with some Italian tour guides :P Then he is smart and knowledgable, but at the sime time he paid attention to our needs. Alghero is a gem and visiting it with a guide gives it that special touch!

I was scheduled to take a tour with Fortieventi through TripAdvisor in Sep 2020. A misunderstanding on my part and double booking was caught by Luca and he personally ensured I got everything straightened out prior to arriving in Sardinia. Extremely helpful prior to even departing my home station. He was very communicative upon my arrival and picked me up at my hotel. We were supposed to have 3 people on the tour, but there was an issue with the other couple and it wound up being only Luca and myself for the day. He was a PHENOMENAL tour guide!! He had the go-to places in Costa Smeralda, Porto Cervo, etc., but adjusted the day given my preferences and desires. Incredibly knowledgeable about Sardinia, history, wines, churches, food, etc. After 7 hours and 1,000 questions, the day ended with a door to door delivery back to my hotel. It was an absolute pleasure to spend the day learning about Sardinia through his eyes and experience. HIGHLY suggest Fortieventi for any and all Sardinia-related tours!! If I could give 10 stars, I would!! Thank you, Luca, for a very memorable day!

As a family of three, we were excited to go on the 7 day northern lakes and Dolomites tour - especially as it would be very difficult to visit these areas by ourselves (visiting from Australia and not confident driving/getting around to these areas). The tour started well, we were the only English speakers but we had been assured our guide would provide fluent English commentary. Perhaps we expected too much but there was very little information provided about where we were or where we were travelling through. In fact, the first three days we received very limited information in total while the Spanish speakers were provided with much more. We visited some stunning places but too much of the tour focused on lunch breaks and eating rather than seeing the sights. Halfway through the tour more English speakers joined the group bit we still had to seek information rather than being provided with it on some occasions. The bus was too big for navigating city streets and mountain switchbacks - the driver often had to reverse and try multiple times to get around corners and switchbacks. I felt very sorry for him - he did a marvelous job but it would have been so much easier for him and much more enjoyable for us if we weren't concerned about falling off the side of a mountain. The company can't seem to decide whether they are catering to small groups or large and this has a huge impact on the enjoyment of the tour. In Trento we were advised that we would have several hours and could visit the castle. After paying for admission and entering we were then advised that because it was raining some people didn't want to stay so we were cutting the visit short - this should never happen! We then had to get back on the bus only to stop at a truck stop for lunch (instead of staying in lovely Trento). There wasn't really any point to having the guide as he did not provide much "guiding" only very limited information and directions to places he thought we should go and eat. We would have done as well with just the driver. If you can navigate your way around the northern lakes and Dolomites by yourself then I recommend you do that. Otherwise, perhaps a different company would provide a better tour.

One of the best archaeological guides that we’ve had and certainly the best in Alghero! Kevin explained everything in detail and took his time to answer our questions. Without the archaeological tour we would have not comprehended the Nuraghe culture and the Neolithic necropolis as well as we did now. Would definitely recommend!

My husband and I were searching the internet for a small group tour specifically covering the Puglia region of Italy when we came across Secret Italia Tours. Their Puglia/Basilicata itinerary fit the bill perfectly but we were at first hesitant to book the trip because Secret Italia was very small compared to the bigger and more well-known tour companies out there. After reading reviews and speaking personally with Aldo by phone several times, not only did we book the Puglia tour, Aldo also worked with us to put together a private four day add-on tour of the Amalfi coast. We can honestly say it was one of the most wonderful travel experiences we have ever had! Hotels: All accommodations were in small boutique hotels located in or very close to the city center. Each one was unique and offered many amenities like free WiFi (though one hotel had very weak WiFi in rooms but delivered a strong signal in common areas), a breakfast buffet each morning, and air conditioning (real a/c, not like the pitiful a/c found in most Italian hotels). Included meals: In addition to breakfast, included meals each day, either a lunch or a dinner, highlighted the specialties of the region and left us all quite full and very happy! From the olives, cheeses and Salumi, to the grilled vegetables, fresh pastas and seafood, pizza, taralli, and luscious desserts, we were simply in food heaven! Tours: While we stayed in four different cities, we also visited many small towns along the way with ample free time for exploring. There were also wine tastings, an olive oil tasting, a hands-on bread-making experience, Sunday dinner at a family-run working farm, and a cheese making demonstration, among other things, which were all informative and fun. Tour Guide: Our trip was made even more enjoyable by Paola, our guide. Not only was she very well-organized, professional, knowledgeable, warm and friendly, she also had a wonderful sense of humor. Truly a delight to be with! All other elements of the trip like transfers to/from airport or train station, luggage handling, bus transport throughout the tour, communications regarding payments, final itinerary and other pertinent info, were all excellent. During our separate personalized Amalfi tour, the outstanding service continued with great drivers and tour guides as we visited Amalfi, Ravello, Positano, Sorrento and Pompei. Aldo checked in with us daily to make sure everything was perfect! We just made a deposit for another tour with Secret Italia this coming September— next stop Provence! If you’re thinking about using Secret Italia Tours for your next vacation, don’t hesitate another moment. You will NOT be disappointed!
