My son and I visited Cunningham park on a recent day trip over to Joplin. We both felt it was a very nice tribute to the victims and survivors of a horrific natural disaster. It was well designed and laid out with lots of information about the storms that day, the victims, and survivors too. Highly recommend a visit if you're in the area.

This is worth the time (when in Joplin, it's only a short drive). Beautiful setting. We are looking forward to visiting again at different times of the year.

This place is definitely off the beaten path--but is so unique when you drive up to it. It is built in to the side of a cliff. There were several motorcycles and convertibles parked outside---indicative of it being a destination place. Those that were out on a drive on this beautiful day decided to stop here for lunch. Inside---the cliff is part of the ambiance--as one wall is the actual cliff. It is a little cooler in here than expected--due to the natural coolness of a cave/cliff. They were busy--but the staff was awesome and the lunch special (chicken fried steak) was scrumptious. If you are passing through Joplin and want a unique experience--make this a must stop on your agenda.

A collection of five museums including one on history, science, cookies, dolls and sports.
This is a small, yet informative museum with lots of information and displays about Joplin's history and Earth minerals. If I remember correctly, they charge an inexpensive admission fee of $2 per person, which I believe to be worth it. This is not your typical museum. As you enter, you have the choice to start on the left wing of the small building, which consists of educational exhibits of minerals, or the right wing of the building, which has an extensive collection of historical artifacts and information about Joplin's history. There isn't much information here about the tornado that impacted the area, but the memorial located several minutes away does. This is the only thing I wish they had included more of in the museum. Overall, it is a lovely museum with very friendly staff, and two gorgeous cats that you can pet, making your visit even more charming.

Joplin 44 Truckstop serves the trucking and traveling public. shopping, custom embroidery & vinyl shop, gas islands, diesel fuel center, truck chrome, truck wash, truck service center, laundry facilities, private shower rooms, movie theater and more!
The Joplin 44 is almost as nice as the Iowa 80 , and as a Truck Driver I stop in all the time, but as far as the Nicest Truck Stops? Well now they're pretty much gone, was the Bossilman's Travel Center's in Nebraska and Iowa... Bossilman's had Grandma Max's Restaurant's and Buffet , Huge Chrome Shops , two Movie Theaters, and 100s of Parking Spots.. And also can't forget the Petro in Albert Lea Mn. The problem is there are so many Trucker's and Regular People who are such Pigs? Nobody want to Build nice Truck Stop because People and Truck Drivers don't take care of them..

The Historic Bonnie and Clyde Apartment is available for nightly rental on Airbnb, Homeaway and VRBO.
I booked through Air BnB and am so glad I did. I came because I was playing one of the members of the Barrow Gang in a play and wanted to research what it was really like for them. Well furnished and comfortable, with plenty of kitchen appliances and amenities for any meal prep. Not to mention the thrill of staying in such a historically significant place.
