Last June my daughter got married and due to restrictions we could only have 30 guests. The Upper House were fantastic and made the day very special. As the wedding wasn't the one the couple had originally planned we had a further celebration last week with all the missing family and friends and once again the Upper House pulled out all the stops. The grounds, the food and the staff were all wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. They arranged a lovely breakfast for all the guests who stayed the following morning and the quality of the food again was very high. The bedrooms were perfect, clean and had everything you needed, including plenty of tea, coffee and bottled water. As several guests are coeliac and require a strict gluten free diet we asked the venue to make the whole day gluten free which they did with no fuss at all, meaning the coeliac guests could eat without the worry of cross contamination. If you are looking for a wedding venue you need to look no further!

We booked an apartment here for two nights as we were visiting Alton Towers. In a lot of ways I liked the place, but I am going to outline what I consider to be the good and bad points as this place will certainly not suit everybody. First the good points. It is a converted industrial building with a lot of character. The apartments are unusual, featuring two double bedrooms with en suite shower rooms, linked by a corridor kitchen. The kitchen has a small work surface for preparing food, an over, hob and microwave. Plates, bowls and cutlery are provided. There is a kettle, but no obvious place to plug it in without balancing it on stool which is not that safe if you have children around. The rooms are in a good state of repair. The showers have good water pressure, but the water came through rather too hot and adjusting the temperature control did not seem to make a difference. Rooms have a TV with netflix etc, and there is wi-fi. There was adequate parking available, and it was easy to find. It is also pretty cheap. Location is convenient, with Staffordshire university and Sainsburys withing walking distance. There is a bar and restaurant downstairs, which is really convenient although we did not try it out. Not so good points. When we arrived we found the room had not been prepared, bedclothes had not been changed and there were dirty towels laying around, and dirty crockery in the sink. However, this was soon resolved and we were given another room which had been prepared. The rooms do not have air conditioning, but really could do with it as I found it uncomfortably hot and stuffy. However, the worst thing about the place was how noisy it was as sound insulation is nowhere near adequate for somewhere above a bar. The first night was quite noisy by not too bad. The second night was dreadful as there was live music downstairs which was so loud that it actually drowned out the tv in our room. I can honestly say this is the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in, and I would never have booked it if I had realised how bad it would be. So if you want somewhere quirky, conveniently located, at a reasonable price, and can tolerate the noise and lack of air con, this place is probably ideal. But if you plan to spend any time there in the evening and are looking for somewhere quiet, this is absolutely not the place.

Welcome to Chapel Croft Lyn and Andy Pemberton welcome you to Chapel Croft, bed and breakfast. An English Tourist Board 4 Star approved accommodation, nestling in glorious countryside on the edge on the Potteries and Peak District with lovely views and walks. The 1890 Chapel has been extensively modernised and all the bedrooms now have ensuite facilities. In January 2011 Chapel Croft has undergone a complete refurbishment of all its rooms.
We had a wedding to attend only 10 minutes away, we have to say that Chapel Croft Guest House was a great choice to stay at, so welcoming, amazing setting, quiet and amazingly kept gardens with ample parking. Lyn is so friendly and lovely, she welcomed us after our long drive, made us a coffee and talked us through the local places to eat or drink etc, our room was spotlessly clean and had everything we could need (she would put the ironing board up in the lounge area if we needed it) the bed was so comfy with loads of pillows which were all soft. The only reason I’ve taken a star off is that the room was a little small, but that’s all. Lyn is a fantastic host and her breakfast is truly outstanding, great value and definitely worth staying at.

No chef, no dinner, no breakfast, no wifi, no return, clean bed clean room pleasant receptionist but not a place I will be going back to. I had to go out to a pub for dinner and breakfast even though on the booking .com website it indicated a restaurant was available.

Cancelled our stay with them 2 days before by adding me to a WhatsApp group and shared my number with multiple people, data protection breach?? Offered an alternative address which looked like a glorified crack den in a back street. Amanda the owner/manager or what ever she calls herself will not answer any calls or messages. Did offer a refund eventually but I am still waiting for this!! Absolutely shocking customer service, has been reported to booking. com and will be taking the data breach further, avoid at all costs!!

Went to book in and was shouted at because my daughter went to the toilet, I said I had a booking he was a bit more friendly untill another woman came round corner she asked if we had Id I said the booker did but I didn’t then she refused us to stay when i asked where it says we needed Id she started shouting at us and told us we could stay. At no point on emails not on booking.com was I asked to provide id. So left 200 miles from home at 7pm trying to find a new hotel. Horrible attitude and no one should be spoke to the way the did. Avoid at all costs

Stayed with my son, he immediately said he would feel safer sleeping in the car. I could fully understand his concerns as I also felt unnerved because of the location. When we arrived we had to double check we were at the right place as it was in the middle of a council estate ! The house inside was clean enough but our room was downstairs next to the kitchen. The stairs were noisy so we could hear everything. It was very warm too but we dare not have the window open due to the unerving feeling we had of the surrounding area. My son could not settle and said he would stay awake to keep us safe. I could not let him do this so had no option but to book us into a nearby Travelodge at 10.30pm. We'd already drove down from Yorkshire which took 3 hours. We could not wait to leave the area to be honest. I'm sorry if the hosts are trying their best but there's a limit to what is acceptable when people are paying money expecting somewhere safe and quiet to stay. There is no way you would want to go out and have a wander around the area. I even felt sorry for my car being outside by itself. I've given it a one star because there's nothing lower.
