Visiting this beach resort with Ocean Land tours was the worst part of our trip to Cartagena and Colombia as a whole! We visited Bogota and Medellin and Agua Azul beach resort was THE worst part. The "private" boat pilots from Ocean Land tours did not listen to our request to visit another location and instead brought us to Agua Azul beach resort, claiming it was the best spot for lunch. Ocean Land tours are OFFICE NUMBER 4 (window 4) at the bodeguita station. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I can't promise the other companies are much better. The boat pilots were in collusion with the restaurateurs at Agua Azul Beach Resort. The lunch was terrible. The seafood was stale and very dry, as if cooked a few days ago. Yet, we were charged $240 for 3 people!! This is a lot of money in Colombia! Then to make matters worse because we weren't carrying 850,000 pesos in cash with us, they charged 20% credit card fee!! When we objected and requested the help of the boat pilots from Ocean Land tours, they claimed it wasn't their issue and we had to handle it ourselves. The beach was beautiful, but the atmosphere at the Agua Azul Beach Resort and the conmen working the beach are horrible. There are many beautiful beaches in the Caribbean and other parts of the world, without the risk of being ripped off. Cartagena was a terrible experience overall. Never again.

So many issues with this place. Overbearing housekeepers, dogs up all night fighting and barking outside your room, and an owner that openly yells and micromanages staff in front of guests. The area and beach is amazing, so it is worth a visit, but we won’t stay at this specific hotel again. There are just too many other options out there to put up with nonsense. This place needs to treat guests better, period!

At first sight it looks really cute and that’s why we stayed. I cannot explain the awful experience i lived in this hostel. Lies, lies and lies. The net for mosquitoes is broken and we got all bitten. They said they had water, light, credit card, breakfast etc for 50000. LIE. If this wasn’t enough, the floor and beds move every time someone moves around, it was really scary since it seemed to break at any time. And I could continue with the smell of sheets etc but I think it’s enough.....

They deceived me renting me a room near the night power motor. I could not sleep at all. When I asked them to refund the other nights I had payed they refused. Do not come. The motor works all night and does not let you sleep or enjoy the sea sound. Horrible experience.

This is one of many cabanas "shacks" along the beach. These do not have running water or electricity. There was a generator at night, but it stopped at 3 am and it was really hot without the fan. The worst... mosquito larvae swimming in shower water container. Host shrugged his shoulders and said "it's an island". Loud music and hammering started at 7 am. These folks do not know how to run a hospitality business. The beach at Playa Blanca is pretty. I suggest you pay more for a real hotel or vacation rental or just come for the day. The food is limited, not very good (all same greasy fish), and pricier than Cartagena. Bring plenty water and snacks.
