Our passionate and friendly Whisky Ambassadors can help you make your choice from the ever-changing selection, with its compelling big-hitter bottles, as well as rare and limited editions. Or they can guide you through a phenomenal tasting, sharing stories, tasting notes and passing along their love of “the water of life” with each sip. Whether you know your peaty from your creamier, sherry-matured whiskies, or you’re just looking to taste whisky for the first time, everyone is welcome. From the glowing amber-coloured walls and the gleaming brushed brass and black granite bar to the smile you receive as you walk through the door, SCOTCH is one of the city’s best-kept secrets.
I passed through Edinburgh yesterday evening and decided to treat myself to a 'wee dram' at the delightful SCOTCH Whisky bar at the Balmoral Hotel. What I loved about this place upon arrival was it's cosy atmosphere. It is what one would expect from a World class hotel. The service was immaculate and both gentlemen on duty demonstrated an excellent knowledge of the Whiskys in their bar. This is quite a feat when considering that there are literally hundreds of Single Malts from all of the Whisky regions in Scotland on the menu. Pricewise, there is something for everyone on the menu. The 18 year old Macallan Sherry Oak was particularly impressive and was a perfect drink to wind up the evening with. The service was by no means rushed and was warm, Scottish hospitality at it's very best. If you are coming to Edinburgh, this IS the place to come to sample great Single Malt and fine service.

My partner and I came here a few nights ago and are truly pleased with our experience! When we walked through the door we were warmly greeted by a member of staff who said we could sit wherever we liked, we did and he soon followed us with a jug of water, cups, menus and also a bowl of popcorn! He explained the vending machine to us as well as the ice cream machine plus all the specials, and came back to us after a few minutes to take our orders! We got our drinks quickly and then asked if we could move seats to sit on the sofas instead which he was more than happy about! I think we had all but two drinks on the menu, all of which we absolutely delicious and we’ll worth the price! The theme and decoration of the bar itself I really enjoyed too! Plus there was a basket of deodorant, hair products and sanitary items in both the make and female toilets which I thought was a really lovely touch. Would most definitely recommend and we will be coming back when we’re next in Edinburgh. Thank you Hoot the Redeemer!

Motel one where we were staying for the weekend, was so near to this friendly small bar. We were just going to have a quick drink but decided to stay for a few as the atmosphere was really good, there is a singer that comes on at 9 on a Friday for a few hours and he really got everyone singing, the saturday night was the same but with a different singer and also again what a good night we had. Drinks really reasonable. I would definetly return to the Hebrides Bar when we plan our next trip to Edinburgh.
