Crystal Basin Cellars is a circle of friends who are sharply focused on creating small batches of wines of outstanding quality. Our long-standing, world-class El Dorado grape sources complement our minimalist, handmade winemaking style to create delicious fruit-forward wines.
We came from Florida and did a little wine tour with a group and this was our favorite stop! They had the best wines and Mike was a lot of fun to learn from and chat with! They also had cute wine gifts to buy and I signed up for the wine club and can’t wait to get my first case!

We are committed to making wines that are a pure and balanced expression of the land and of the varietals deliverately selected to thrive on our two vineyard properties.

Fun place to taste a large selection of local grown grapes! The white wines and a "FEW" are grown at Cooper Vineyards in Amador County, but all the other REDS are from "Mom and Pop" growers that take great pride in seeing their wines win all the competitions! The labels are all original art from Pamela Findleton who has been deemed the best El Dorado County artist on many occasions.

I cracked up when I read the one star rating. And the reviewer talks about 'protecting' her fellow wine lovers. This person is obviously NOT a wine lover, but someone who judges wine quality by the price of tasting it. She may be right about one thing, the tasting fee is more than most other El Dorado wineries, and yes there are only 2 offerings. She probably would have died had she inquired what the price of a bottle is. Having said all of that, I will tell you this - you would be hard pressed to find a better bottle of Merlot, even in Napa Valley!! I'm not at all big on Merlot, I'm a Cabernet Sauvignon guy. I like thick, chewy, big full bodied bold cabs. When the owner was opening a bottle for us to taste & I told him about my wine preference, he said, while pouring wine into a glass for me to taste, "yeah, I know, Merlot, boring, ladies wine." Then I smelled it in the glass, took a nice mouthful, swished it all around inside my mouth, and chewed on it, & swallowed. OMG! This is no light-weight, boring ladies Merlot. Full bodied, smooth as silk- like I said, just try & find a 'better Merlot ANYWHERE, even Napa Valley. Then I asked how much for a bottle. Let me just say, I was very surprised, as the price was more like what you'd pay for a good Cab in Napa, & of course waaaay more tan what you expect from El Dorado county. I bought 2 bottles - HAD TO!!
