After many years of hard work, the "Sleeping Beauty" has awoken from its slumber. The city is beautifully restored and has an ultra-modern public transport system. The “Port of the Moon” is also now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Stone Bridge, with its 17 arches, crosses the Garonne, offering pedestrians a lovely view over the docks and harbor. Take a stroll through old Bordeaux in the Triangle d'Or and stop at Place des Quinconces, France’s largest public square. The city of Bordeaux is an ideal base for exploring the greater wine region’s unforgettable sights and tastes.

Welcome to Max Bordeaux and its magical concept that opens wines such as Latour, Margaux, Haut-Brion, Cheval Blanc, Mouton Rothschild and Yquem to everyone! You wouldn’t buy a car before test driving it, so before buying a Grand Cru, you will want to have tasted it first! An innovative concept paired alongside an educational approach: each wine is presented with the history of the chateau, the winemaking techniques and the tasting notes. You credit a tasting card that is given to you upon arrival to the gallery with your desired amount. Each time you taste a new wine, the corresponding amount is debited based on the size of tasting you choose (25, 50, or 75 mL). Private Wine tasting workshops can be held with a sommelier who explains the history of the Grand Cru Classe with a comparative tasting between different appellations.
Wine tasting focused on education. The room isn’t terribly interesting but the wine is terrific and the staff was wonderful.

We popped in and had a cheeky glass of Champagne on two nights before we went out, great little place that is excellent value for money with most champagnes being available by the glass. Little plates of tasters to accompany our drinks, great ambience and service.

Really can’t criticise anything. The bar is positioned in the trendy student area in a pleasant, wide street near a square. Really pleasant to sit outside and people watch although your fellow customers are more likely to be Bordeaux residents as you are little bit away from the stifling, overwhelming old town centre (just 5 minutes walk but enough). There’s a fabulous selection of wines which we tried by the glass, superb boards of charcuterie and cheese and other snacks and attentive, delightful staff with excellent English and a love and knowledge of what they were selling. Tell ‘em what you like and they will find options for you. Spent rather an alarming amount of money but it was absolutely worth every penny. Fab, fab, fab!

Come and discover the Xanadu cocktail workshop! A unique opportunity to discover local spirits and surprising recipes. The workshop takes place in an intimate lounge in the heart of Bordeaux, in a house dating back to 1834.
