The Makhtesh (crater), above which the Makhtesh Ramon Visitors Center is located, is part of the Matsok HaTsinim and Har HaNegev nature reserves. The Visitors Center offers an experience combining the life story of the Israeli astronaut, Col. Ilan Ramon, while enabling visitors to become familiar with the largest makhtesh in the world and its unique natural phenomena.
Visiting the Ramon Crater visitors center presented the video of the Israeli astronaut Ilan Ramon with the live feed from the Challenger Space shuttle, his incredible history and pride in his service to iIsrael. It also gives an excellent geological review of the crater creation as well as a terrific movie on the animals of the desert and crater. Must see.

Later on we will view some meaningful moments of Abraham's life as presented in The Book of Genesis in an audio – visual hallway and watch a 3-D movie with subtitles translated into 9 different languages. At the end of the movie we will regather for a few last words and observation of the well we heard and learned about during the tour.
This interesting historical site is very accessible to all visiting the city of Beersheba. Free parking. Easily found, using WAZE. Nice knowledgeable guide in Hebrew. Also have tours in other languages. Movie is in many languages.Try to order in advance, because there are school tours all the time. For those who don't know (or forgot) the Biblical history of our father Abraham, it will be very enlightening. The site is fit for Jews, Christians & Moslems- since Abraham was their ancestor. The end of the tour is a surprise: the "REAL" well that Abraham dug was found and restored. You'll surely like it. ps. When buying the tickets, there is a possiblity of purchasing a double ticket: one for the Abraham center, and another for the Locomotive site close by. worth it.
