We have visited the "The Pyramids of Zone" many times. Most times we parked the car and then we did the tour. But during our Vacation for Singles "Sport - Yoga and Culinary at Lake Iseo" we came with eBikes and then we made the round course. BTW, next trip will be from 28.04. - 04.05.19 (visible in TripAdvisor) The “Piramidy of Zone” which have formed by erosion of water in the course of several millenniums are worldwide well known and it is really worthwhile to visit this place. Indeed, these so-called “Piramidy of Zone” are a true masterpiece of the nature. By the inhabitants of the Lake Iseo region they are called “stone fairies”, for the geologists these are simply “erosion pyramids “. We speak of those high, sharp, tower-shaped things of earth columns on which mostly a big deck stone lies. They certainly belong to the most imposing erosion pyramids of Europe, maybe even worldwide. Above „sweet chestnut mountains“ you find on 1950 meters above sea level the village Zone with his famous “Piramedi“, a picturesque place in a green hollow with beeches and spruces which shows a unique connection to Lake Iseo and the mountain world. The surroundings are unique, there are worldwide only a few places which are a little bit similar to this erosion pyramids. From the parking area Cislano, you will pass the church San Giorgo, and you continue on an approx. 60 – 90 minutes round trail to discover these 30-metre-high formations which have originated more than 150,000 years ago. To be exact, not all pyramids are 30 metres high. However, the biggest pyramid reaches with certainty 30-m height. Their base measure approximately 8 metres and on top point point it carries a rock lump with a diameter of nearly 4 metres. These earth columns with a stone have been originated over a very long period, while the rain for many, many years has washed away the earth around the columns. The stones lying on top have protected the directly underneath lying loam-gravel depositions. By the way, on the round footpath you enjoy, a dream view over Lago d `Iseo and there are some park-benches where you can sit comfortably. On the way you see some explicatory diagrammes which provide information about the natural phenomenon of the erosion pyramids and also some information about the qualities of the area are put together for the visitors. This nature conservation park is always accessible. Absolutely recommendable and a highlight during your vacation at Lake Iseo! It is also possible to visit the park with a Guide. You just have to call the Sebino Bresciano Mountain Community (Tel. +39 030 986314). Moreover, it is worthwhile to visit also the church San Giorgio in Cislano (12 century.) after having finished the round tour, which is at the entrance of the park and shows the frescoes of Antonio Abate.
