The people who worked at the hatchery were very short with us (but not quite rude). We arrived about 30 minutes before closing time...they wouldn't let the kids fish, we barely got any information. If I was going to be in the area again, I would probably go back because it's free, but earlier in the day.
Also, the aquarium has like 20 fish, but it is kind of neat for very young (toddler) children.

Traveling around Truman Lake was breathtaking to say the least. This is a beautiful lake with lots to do and places to go. However, watch where you stay, normally I'd say you are in good hands at any of our national park campgrounds, not this time at Berry Bend Campground. There are A, B, C, campground area listed, maybe even a D. But only C is really open, and B only has 8 sites that are usable. The hole area is in such disrepair, that it's spooky. No trash pick up, hardly no maintenance at all, most all of the campsites in A and B are closed, ran over with brush, dead trees, and weeds. Roads closed and so on. Made our experience one that we didn't want to return.

Absolutely a hidden gem. I'm not from Missouri but I've lived here for the past 13+ years. My husband took our family up here and I couldn't believe that I've missed this place all this time. The girls were young (ages 3-9) and had a blast looking at everything, touching stuff and hearing stories. The staff was amazing and so patient. We've been back twice since then and one time without the kids so I could explore more. Such a great place.

Clear waters, dramatic bluffs and vibrant summer and fall colors make Harry S Truman State Park an ideal place to vacation. Located on a peninsula, the park offers a marina, ample fishing and boating opportunities, and water that’s perfect for every kind of swimmer. Hiking trails, picnic areas and campsites that dot the park’s open oak woodlands, natural grasslands and lakeside areas let visitors enjoy the abundance of wildlife and recreation opportunities at this expansive park.
Stopped here with my boyfriend on a motorcycle trip. Lovely, scenic place to walk, fish, and just relax. Beautiful grounds.

The Warsaw Riverfront and trail system has continued to grow by leaps and bounds the last several years! Through the unique trail system that runs along the Osage River/Lake of the Ozarks the City has linked 3 major parks, creating a linear park along this scenic waterfront area that has beautiful views of the Ozark Hills, bluffs, lakes, and greenways!
Drake Harbor is on of my favorite places to walk. It is about a mile around the park itself and if you want more, you can add 1-2 miles by crossing the swinging bridge and hiking the new trail along the lake on the other side. Everything is well kept, well lighted and maintained.

We are so lucky to have a new and growing Farmer's Market here in Warsaw, MO. So often when you live in a small town you have to give up some of the suburban amenities. This is a jewel. If you go more than once they will remember you and remember what things you like. There is a complete range of vegetables and fruits but also bread, eggs and plants. Even if you are in the outlying areas this is worth the trip.

I didn't expect a lot from a small county museum but was pleasantly surprised. The featured exhibit changes each season. Last summer the focus was on Steamboats on the Osage River. This year it is all about the railroads. I didn't know that it took 1000 ties for a mile of track so the railroad provided many job opportunities. The railroads also ended the dominance of river boats. The museum has many artifacts and photos of life in Benton County from the mid 1800's to the present day. You can visit a parlor , kitchen, school and bedroom. There is a display of military uniforms and wedding dresses through the years. It was a very nice experience and the volunteers are extremely knowledgeable. We will return.

My son bought a bike from this shop, and it has been put through the paces over the last year, and is still running strong! Thanks for the hook up Mac!
