Periyar Spice and Ayurvedic Garden is situated on the Munnar - Thekkady Road. Here we have a wide range of spices like Cardamom, Pepper, Cloves, Cinnamon, Nutmeg etc. and Herbs like Aloe Vera, Red Sandal, Amla, Lemon, Grass, Eucaluptus, Vetrivert, etc. and a wide range of Orchids , flowers and for the bird lovers a lot to see.
It has a huge Ayurvedic plantation and once you are inside the plantations, you are guided by a very knowledgeable guide to take you around and show and explain all the importance of spices and herbs that are good for our health. The tour typically is for about ½ hour and then you also have a shop where you can buy all the spices and herbs based on your requirement.
Although personally, I found the prices pretty steep, don’t know why, in fact, it should be cheaper compare to other medicines since it is home grown.
Kerala is one among 50 most preferred tourist destinations in the world. The beautiful land is blessed with hill stations like Thekkady which is known as the spice belt of India.
