The gateway to Northern Norway indicates the border between the counties of Nord Trondelag and Nordland. The arch signifying the Northern Lights stretches across the E6 highway and is a popular photo subject. Facilities here include self service information kiosks, a rest area and kiosk/souvenir shop with the focus on Sami handicraft. The village of Majavatn is located approx. 8 km north of the gateway. A memorial has been raised near the railway station in memory of the 24 young men who were killed by Germans in the “Majavatn affair” during World War II.
