Smooth Waters Wildlife Park

Smooth Waters Wildlife Park is a smaller and very guest friendly zoological park dedicated to promoting conservation, education, and the preservation of endangered species. We have fun with our guests and interact with you to give you the same great experience we'd want to have when we visit other parks and zoos. At Smooth Waters, there's always "Fun, Smiles, & Crocodiles", and our prices aren't too shabby either! Enjoy Central Florida's best "fraction of a day attraction" for the same price you might spend at any other attractions snack bar!

Having travelled to Florida for the last 20+ tears and visited the theme parks on a regular basis with my wife we decided to expand our horizons an visit Smooth Waters. All I can say is what an overwhelming experience. If you are looking for a really authentic interaction with alligators, crocodiles and tortoises this is the place to go. The owners, Nathan and his wife Katie were a mine of information and provided a personal tour of the facility. Their interaction with the reptiles is breathtaking, their enthusiasm to impart knowledge is second to none, if you find yourself at a loose end, treat your family to a trip, you will feel great afterwards. Feeding the tortoises a real highlight, they can really run, Trapper the alligator is ‘The Man’, two hours well spent can’t wait to return!

Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge

Established as a migratory bird refuge, much of this wildlife refuge is marsh or swamp and is accessible only by boat. In addition to the birds – there are about 215 species detectable – the swamp area holds many kinds of fish and even alligators.

What a treasure this place is for bird watchers and nature lovers. Sadly, often marred by dog owners who ignore the no dogs law and bring their pets. Volusia County Sheriff patrols the area and can issue fines for dog owners, wish people would obey the law.

De Leon Springs State Park

This is one of our favorite springs in Florida. Our visit was in February so the weather was spectacular. The park is well maintained with plenty of parking, easy access to the actual spring where you can swim year-round, a nicely kept museum, nature trails, boat rentals, boat tours, and... one of the most fun, unique dining experiences in Florida - the Old Spanish Sugar Mill. The trails wind you through several ecosystems including typical Florida shrublands, tropical hardwoods, and swamps. Huge trees and beautiful flora are throughout the park. We will definitely return.

First time visitor. I was impressed! Great half mile racing surface which required very minimal track maintenance. Good vision of track even down low. New stands being added which will be great! 3 classes of Late models put on a great show. Track was very racy and saw some 4 wide racing (when they went 5 - well that didn’t work out too well). Easy access in and out from the facility. Food was good. Website and Facebook page could have more detailed and timely information.
