Prater's Mill

My family has had gatherings here since I was a little girl. It's beautiful, peaceful and a wonderful place to have a family picnic or take the kids fishing. There's a covered pavillion with plenty of seating. During the fall, they have the Prater Mill Festival with lots of crafts, food, music, etc.

Dalton Distillery

Our family has been making moonshine for over 80 years. To honor my Father after his retirement, I decided to open this distillery. We still use the same recipe used over 80 years ago. We are the only distillery in the state of Georgia that buys local, Georgia Grown products, and mills everything on site. We currently have 2 products in liquor stores, "Raymond's Reserve" Straight Corn Whiskey at 111 proof and "Raymond's Reserve" Cinnamon at 82 proof. Please ask for it at your local liquor store. Our products are able to be sold in Georgia, Texas, and New Jersey. Or, you can come to our location and try samples, purchase a tour and leave with a bottle of your choice as our gift to you. We are always experimenting with a variety of flavors. You never know what we will come up with next!

George Disney Trail

Reviewed By mommy2scarlett - Florida

This is a great steep hike. A walking stick is helpful if you aren't used to some rocks or the steepness. The trail can be slippery when wet, just a warning. It's not impossible...my 10, 7, and 4 year old children made the hike, the 4 year old had plenty of help. The view at the top is great. Take a lunch and eat on the rock overlook.

Dalton Confederate Cemetery

Reviewed By Mark G - Dalton, Georgia, United States

Most folks know little or nothing about the role Dalton Georgia played in the American Civil War. Many of the men lying in this cemetery died of wounds in battles around Chattanooga, TN, like Chickamauga, Lookout Mountain, Missionary Ridge, and Ringgold Gap. Almost all the graves are marked 'unknown'. As for our town, Dalton was captured by the Northern Armies in May of 1864 during the Atlanta campaign, but was recaptured by the Confederates in October of that year after the Union garrison guarding the RR in town surrendered to superior forces. All that remains today of this conflict are these tombstones of the honored dead, boys and men who ventured far from home to die in the several hospitals located in Dalton. It is fitting our town still maintains this site and a local SCV group of reenactors comes out on Confederate Memorial Day in April and fires a salute to these fallen warriors who are laid to rest in our beautiful valley. May it always be so.

Red Barn Flea Market

Reviewed By Bill F

We love to do flea markets. Although this one a little off the Interstate, it was worth the time. There are lots of indoor and outdoor booths. It reminded us very much of the street markets in rural Mexico. It seemed that most of the vendors were in fact, Hispanic. There was quite a bit of produce as well as some junk. There is a food vendor inside with pretty decent fare.

Imagine Dr. Evil doing the exaggerated air quotes while saying mall. That's the basic description of this place. It's not worth driving out of the way for. It's not worth planning a trip to. It's got basic stores that happen to be convenient to a Daltonian in need of clothes, shoes or bath products. Otherwise, don't bother.
