Visitor center is in Columbia, NC on the Scuppernong river. Exhibits and programs when open. Today's program was on the Red Wolfe, found in this area. There is a nature board walk along the river and through the swamp. it's educational and as well as a chance to stretch your legs when going to or from the beach. Beside the visitors center is a county rest area with good bathrooms and a manned information center with brochures and helpful advice during hours.

Fun little winery that did free tastings of ~10 wines, with many pretty good. Definitely check out the semi-dry catawba belle, which was quite good. Many sweeter offerings, muscadines, but also lots of wine grape + fruit juice blends - the tangerine + sav blanc was particularly interesting. Definitely worth a stop!

Clean restrooms, lots of literature on North Carolina & Outer Banks. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff. Out the back door, to the left is the interpretive boardwalk, which was just a nice, leisurely stroll even though we didn't see any animals! To the right, the boardwalk takes you downtown. Don't waste your time going right! Downtown is rundown!

Much to see and do while visiting this area. The staff is great at the information center and at the Pocosin Lakes Visitor Center. They're both side by side in the same complex. Plan to spend at least one hour here. Rest rooms and souvenir shops too.

My daughter had given me a gift certificate and so off I went to get a massage. I called to set up an appointment and they treat it like it's a doctors office, even having you fill out paperwork. They ask if you have an HSA, but our HSA doesn't cover something like that. I was taken into a consultation room which, to me, was a waste of time. Mac took care of me. I had the deep tissue massage and it went well. I did fall asleep 3/4 of the way through.

This is the therapist to request for a therapeutic massage! He has the knowledge and technique to consistently give a perfect massage regardless of the physical abuse or stress I have put on my body!

Small shop that has a variety of items but very little furniture. Lots of water related items and some books. Lots of little knick knack items that might interest you. If you are passing through the town it's very convenient to route 64.

Located just a short drive from the Outer Banks beaches! Pocosin Arts' focus is on craft education. We offer workshops year around in a variety of media including clay, metals, fibers, mixed media, wood, painting, drawing and more. Our studios and lodge are located by the unspoiled beauty of the Scuppernong River and Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge. Our location provides a perfect blend of natural beauty and small-town hospitality. It is a great place to learn something new, meet new friends, hike, kayak and be inspired.
This admittedly small organization is on the brink of joining great American craft schools like Arrowmont, Penland and Haystack. I predict it will become as great of a draw as the older schools. Whether you want to learn metal smithing, ceramics or other crafts, this is the best place to start. And don't forget their annual Cabin Fever Reliever, a four day extravaganza of workshops. I've been twice and highly recommend attending!
