Our 90 minute walk with Alpacas lead by Grace was fantastic, she was knowledgeable, patient and able to answer every question, the Alpacas were gorgeous and really put a smile on your face. overall a fantastic experience

In the heart of the National Forest, Hicks Lodge is a former coal mining site that has been totally transformed by new plantings and exciting trails for you to enjoy. A great day out for the budding cyclist, from tearaway toddlers to young teens perfecting their skills, we’ve got a range of trails for beginner to intermediate appetites. Visit our lakeside bird hide where you can soak in the beautiful scenery and spot some unique wildlife, such as the migratory sand martins. There are also walking and horse riding paths to explore the forest, a play area and a café!

My partner and I popped into Hicks Lodge this afternoon. Parking was £3 for 2 hours, which felt fair. We hired 2 bikes, they cost £9 for an hour each. We didn't get helmets with the bike hire, which made me a little anxious, so please take your own if you'd like to wear one. There were a variety of trails of different difficulties. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring. There were plenty of places to stop for a picnic etc. There was also a cafe onsite and playpark, but we did not use this. There were portaloos in the carpark if required with hand sanitizer. We'd definitely visit if we were in the area again.

Thanx lamb what a tremendous time we all had fantastic Sunday dinner and really enjoyed the home made gravy like grandma use to make you could really taste the beef in it, then the home made chocolate brownie ice cream and chocolate sauce the kids enjoyed it to, very friendly and helpful staff we will definitely be coming again cheers ????

Visited Staunton Harold Nurseries on Tuesday of this week - always well stocked with staff available to help with a gardening question. Seem to be coping with the Covid19 regulations and felt safe whilst enjoyed my visit. Plants well looked after and watered -n looking forward to watching my new herbs grow. Always pleased with plants - good root stock and not overcrowded. Visited Peaches the cafe - lovely sunny day, new umbrellas were welcome outside with good social distancing. Menu very good - full range, not reduced it seems like a lot of places. Catered well for us, including a vegetarian. A real bargain with the 50% reduction too! A good afternoon out. Well done Staunton Harold Nurseries - we'll be back.

Came here tonight with my 3 year old daughter, we had great fun climbing and going down the inflatable slides , there is a restaurant/cafe and it's 2 pound for the socks,go give it a go......

We walked round this English Heritage site towards the end of the afternoon, which meant we spent much of the time alone and could see the ruins well. The castle is mostly in ruins but there is a central tower with a long (98) set of spiral steps you can climb for an overview of the site. Worth the effort. It's an attractive and interesting place, with plenty of information boards to give background to the visible remains. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

This charity, was set up to turn an old coal mining area of central England into a forest, and a large playground. It aimed to help regenerate the area and raise awareness and respect for trees, whilst offering good clean fun for all. I think it does just this, and my children and I love it, as did previous generations of our family. If you are of the coca cola generation, loving shiny brightly coloured plastic, burgers and fries, and Disney world, then you probably need to be spoon fed your entertainment and won't like this.The ingredients of a great day out are there, but you need to know how to enjoy it. It offers the following:- A long assault course for people of all ages; One large and several smaller good quality play grounds; A wonderful water feature area (great on a hot day, I couldn't get my kids aways from there) which shows all sorts of water related physics in action (but do read the signs); Beautiful woodlands to explore and play in (my kids found their own entertainment there), including wooden walkways suspended over boggy land; A zip wire and well priced low and high ropes; A maze which my kids spent a long time exploring, and reading about the different star signs and plants etc; A lovely little train which younger kids will love; A great ampitheatre which had a weird and wonderful show on which engrossed my kids; a great barefoot walk, plus more, which we have yet to explore, such as under ground warrens.... Go there if you like active, adventurous, educational good clean fun and don't mind getting dirty! The plastic loving generation should look else where.
