Beautiful public beach, scenic overlook into Big Bay Lagoon.
On a whim, we decided to go camping for the weekend of Fourth of July. We called several campgrounds along the north shore but most of the campgrounds were already full. Thankfully, Rand at Big Bay Town Park offered to place us on a wait list....several hours later he called back to say that there was one available! Not only was the campground host friendly and helpful but the grounds and facilities were beautiful and well-kept! Bathrooms clean, quiet at nighttime, and safe-feeling! We loved that we could walk down to the beach right from the campground or take a quick 6 mile drive with our motorcycle to town for breakfast. Madeline Island is a gem with lots to do - you just have to look for it! Can’t wait to go back!

A Martha Stewart American Made 2015 Finalist and Lake Superior Magazine's Best of the Lake - Wisconsin - gift shop - 2015 & 2016. Madeline Island Candles are made from good, old-fashion, earth grown soybeans to create an environmentally friendly candle. Soy wax candles are longer, cooler and cleaner burning without soot buildup. The soy wax that we use is renewable, biodegradable, and grown in the USA. And try our 100% beeswax, handpoured taper candles.
Good verity of different candles.Very friendly and helpful staff. It is hard to pick from so many different scents :)) I bought two small sets of candles and very pleased with scents and burning time.Tiny Candle, Big Fragrance! It's burning slowly and evenly - no burning down in the center of the candle. The fragrance is most concentrated in the room I'm burning it, but it can be subtly smelled on the other end of our house.

The biggest Island of the Apsotle Islands, Madeline Island is the destination one needs to visit if you like nature and lakes. Big Bay is the State park on the Island, even though the Apostles are considered the National Lakeshore. I especially liked the part of the park called Big Bay Sand Spit & Bog State Natural Area. But the rest of the park is awesome as well

The ferry to Madeline Island was great and easy. We took a car. If you do so you'll want to be at the ferry dock at least 20 minutes before departure to queue up. You don't have to buy tickets ahead of time if you do not want. They'll take your cash/card in line. Then, they tell you where to drive on and off you go. The trip takes 30 minutes. You'll need a mask if you get out of the car.

Took ferry over from Bayfield and was very pleased to find this bike rental shop. Very friendly and helpful staff, efficient too! I appreciated the fact they charged only for time on bike and didn’t round up to next hour. Would definitely recommend and use again.
