The stereotype dictates that Russian museums are dry and the tour guides are cranky old ladies. This museum offered a much better experience than that! All the ladies were kind to me and didn't rush me. They let me ask questions and answered them with pleasure. As usual they watched me the entire time, but I just ignored it. The first floor is an exhibit with LOTS of information about the family and the second floor is where they actually lived. I speak Russian (a bit) so I think I got more out of it than I would otherwise... but as I recall they did give us English info sheets to read which I took to supplement everything else so I could get through it all faster ;)

Very well maintained and easy to walk around. Fascinating experience especially when I went first time in the winter with -32 and snow everywhere! It is not just a walk in the house of Lenin but also a tour of how people used to live at the time, the kitchen and the special compartment on top of the woodstove, the central heating, the rooms and the open Chemistry book on Alexander's desk by his teacher : Mendeleyev!

Another quirky monument in a city with several of them. I'm pretty sure everyone takes a photo sitting on the sofa, that's about it. There is a statue of the guy nearby.
