A jumping-off point for ferries to the Hebridean Islands, the port town of Oban offers a picturesque bayside setting. It's worth catching a later boat to take in the town's stately Victorian architecture, bounty of seafood restaurants, and good pubs.

Book this if you stay near Oban. Book this if you have to drive 3 hours. Book this if you even remotely like animals because you can tell Paul really loves what he does and is lucky enough to do it for a living. This was worth it just to be able to see these truly awe inspiring birds of prey in their natural habitat and that they were so gentle and beautiful was unexpected. Paul spent well over 90 min with us, totally on our own.. no other guests. He was patient, so informative and never once did this feel like a lecture about birds. It was more like he and they let us into their little family group for a few hours and we were so so lucky. I know this sounds over done.. it’s not. It was pouring rain at first and I hate rain and did not even care I was so blown away. So great. Do it.

Visited Oban distillery for the first time even though living in the area, The tour was amazing you got told the history of the Oban whisky and see the process of making the whisky, Jim was a brilliant tour guide with a great sense of humour and knowledge this tour is really good value for money as you get two drams included including one straight from the barrel and a whisky glass souvenir and the shop is well kitted out too!

Arduaine is a wonderfully moist and mossy coastal garden, influenced beneficially by the North Atlantic Drift and enjoyed by enthusiasts from all over the world. Twenty acres of outstanding woodland plants include not only a major rhododendron species collection with a leaning towards the more tender, but also all the usual spring-flowering favourites such as camellia, pieris, azalea and magnolia. Other trees and shrubs take the flowering season on into the autumn along with an inspiring miscellany of bulbs, perennials, climbers, water plants and ferns, many rare and unusual, many down to earth and familiar, all interesting and beautiful in their diverse ways. A spectacular coastal and island panorama can be enjoyed from the easily accessible cliff top viewpoint. Visitors are welcome every day and will find something of interest throughout the year, come rain or shine.
Lovely garden in a great location to quietly wander for an hour or two. Good variety of species and interesting for a run of the mill gardener like myself.

Take a day trip from Oban and visit the Inner Hebridean islands of Mull, Coll, Tiree or Iona. Go a little further, take a trip north to the Outer Hebrides or south to the island of Colonsay.
Travelled from Mallaig to Armidale with 2 elderly relatives towards the end of the year, apart from the flat calm crossing, it was a totally enjoyable experience. From the moment we arrived, the gentleman directing the traffic into the que was aware we were arriving and needed mobility assistance until we disembarked it was faultless. Catering facilities excellent for such a short crossing, spotless along with friendly helpful staff. Would highly recommend

This site is closed for now. We’re working hard to gradually reopen the places you love while making sure the experience is safe for everyone. Visit the mighty stronghold of the ‘Kings of the Isles’ where Jacobite heroine Flora MacDonald was believed to have been held in prisoner. On an immense rock overlooking the Firth of Lorn near Oban stands the remains of one of the oldest stone castles in Scotland and the former stronghold of the MacDougalls. Built around 1220 by Duncan MacDougall, the son of Earl Somerled, known also as the ‘King of the Isles’, Dunstaffnage Castle was built at the height of the battle between Scotland and Norway for control of the Hebrides and was even once besieged by Robert the Bruce during the Wars of Independence.
This was an absolutely fantastic experience. Whether you have links Scottish heritage (Sumerled, Dougall, Donald, McDougall or Bruce) this is a truly fantastic place for a day out. The tour guide is an absolutely entertaining legend and I will definitely come again.

The Castle was very good to visit, interesting history which had been portrayed well in the museum. They are developing the experience to visitors, we were treated to a piper playing in the castle grounds
