Probably best known for its eponymous beer, Sapporo—the capital of Hokkaido, Japan’s northernmost island—has maintained the youthful and open atmosphere of the 1972 Olympic Winter Games, drawing international visitors for its annual Snow Festival and its world-famous ramen. Those seeking out the full diversity of Japanese cuisine will want to visit: a city with a ramen-inspired theme park is one that embraces and pampers foodies.

The view from Mt Okura Observatory is stunning, at night you can see the city lights spread out in front of you. The cable car was enjoyable. By the way, if you take the bus to the Observatory, make sure you know the time of the return bus, as taxis may be scarce.

Accessible by bus from Teine train station. Mt. Teine's snow is real powder so my first time skiing was quite enjoyable. No injury even while I was "falling and rolling" down the steep slope. Your can have a day trip from Sapporo city center to here.

The sapporo-Teine is composed of two-zone. It`s Highland-zone and Olympia-zone. Highland zone for like a intermediate skiers and an advanced skiers. Olympia -zone for a family and like a first- time skiers.
Actually not even a day trip, from Sapporo station you get there in less than an hr. There are several ways and times you can go to the resort during the day. Went there a few times 2019/.20 season. The night pass is for the lower side of the mountain, so its not as fun as the morning. but great for beginners! one of the cheapest lift tickets around sapporo, and snow on the highland side is pretty good!

We were unsure what to expect when we booked a cab to take us to this venue but very pleasantly surprised on arrival. This massive ski jump must be seen to be believed. Looking up to the top, it is apparent that this sporting event is for extreme skier and definitely not the faint hearted. Really enjoyed the chair lift ride up to the top, despite it being seriously cold and snowing at the time. At the top, looking down the ski jump gave you even more perspective on what these elite sports men and women do. They must have nerves of steel!!! Then to warm up, we went to the museum. This interactive facility was so much fun. Including testing your skills as a ski jumper, bob sledder and ice skater. None of which I will be taking up any time soon based on my results on the simulators!!!
