Llamas, sheep and alpacas roam the plains of Puno, a port city in southeastern Peru. Their fleeces are used to make the area’s signature textiles, which make excellent souvenirs. You’ll do a lot of walking here, as many of the streets are too steep for cars. But the climbs are worth it for the excellent views of Lake Titicaca. Take a boat to the Floating Islands or get up close and personal with the four-legged locals at a llama farm.

Puno Cathedral is in the main square of Puno and consists of two nice towers. It was built in eighteenth century and after that various things added. The front of the interior of the Cathedral is made of silver and looks very beautiful. The side walls are full with various paintings.

I was advised no pictures, so I didn't take any. The ground floor has a good basic history as a starter kit, we got our cup of coca tea and walked up to the third floor so coming back down wouldn't hurt so much. The third floor has explanatory plaques explaining the dance featured then the associating costumes make perfect sense. Now I know why the dragon masks in town. The dances were often ridiculing the Spanish King, mine overseers, oppressors. Making fun, unbeknownst to the crowds, of the ruling class. Back to the second floor the artifacts show clearly the use of coca by the northern South American peoples back as far as 20,000 BC. First clear evidence was 3,000BC. The informational signs are in Spanish and English. Fascinating, especially the medicinal uses. Free

Not hard to find . Perfect little museum and not expensive at all. Totally worth it.. I don't know where people say this was the only thing to see in Puno. They must have not looked very well quite a few things in puno to see. We very much enjoyed the city.. we walk 8 hours a day for 2 days and sore everything.. Then went and stayed on Lake Titicaca with a real Euro family.
